I do like mowing because it is a closed ended kind of task. Lawn looks bad - mow - lawn looks good - done.

Almost instant gratification and I get something done for once.

@T-yoda I started our annual mowing of the fields today after pming the JD and things not progressing to my liking. Took a half day yesterday to attach the mower and it was so hot I couldn't keep my glasses on due to sweat rolling off my head onto the inside of glasses. Things just messed (said that nicely) with me all day, had an agenda that I should have completed. Nope. Beat and drained physically, I packed up and came home. Today was the exact opposite! Full of energy of the new day, plus a nice lunch packed for me from my wonderful Amanda, things went well! Knifes for mower were changed, adjustments made worked beautifully on mower, she worked flawless! Was still very hot, but two storms rolled in over the mountain which I made it back in time to put equipment away just in time. Hoping to get first field done tomorrow, fingers crossed. Just trying to make my 83 year old Dad realize the next gen can handle this. But anyhow, I just try and have faith when you have a bad day, there always is tomorrow! It's hard some days!

Poured like crazy about 5:45, I was on the highway down to 40 mph.
I saw lightning hit the shoulder of the road about 100 feet in front of me. I have never been that close to a strike before.
The thunder clap sounded like it was right on my roof and the percussion vibrated the truck.

Thunder now in the south hills. Something has to give with this heat and humidity.

    Good morning fellow Pennsyltuyckyvanians!!

Pretty much did nothing but lay around the pool yesterday. Retired life.

Think I'll cut the grass today - or tomorrow depending on how we things still are after the rains of the past few days. We really didn't get much rain yesterday - thunderstorms all around us and rain over us at one point and nothing was hitting the ground. Got a light rain overnight.

Be safe out there and enjoy the weekend!!!

Hello Mark, we really need you step up your game. For example, us non-retired folks want to know the weather out at least 4-5 days. Perhaps get a youtube channel going with what the weather is out a few days from today, and associated activities to do with said weather. I look forward to the first episode, got a cold beer waiting for your completion of season 1 of "Pennsyltuyckyvanians retired life recommendations ":D

That sounds great.....except then I'd be back into the grind of people expecting me to deliver a product on a regular basis.....which sounds a lot like work. The only forecasting you might get from me is what I am planning on having for Happy Hour. :D:rofl:

My grass needs cut too. I got to check and see just how wet the grass is. I woke up in the middle of the night and took the dog out to go the bathroom. As I stood there rain was dripping off the trees from a recent rain. The air was heavy and hot. The growth of all the flora was evident. I felt like I was in the jungle... or at least Miami. This has been one wet summer.

I'm one to do that but the wife hates to see the clumps of grass. It's been about 1 1/2 weeks so it's high. It will definitely clump. If I raise the deck one level from where I normally cut it, it should not sputter and stall. But I have almost 2 acres, not all of it mowable, but still too much to rake, for lazy me at least. :D
