Let me know if there is a specific thread to post troubleshooting tacos~

With that said, I am a proud new owner of a 2021 Tacoma; with a manual transmission! (waited so long for this) First Toyota I've owned. I don't have a lot of mechanical experience (yet) so I'm not really sure what to look for to diagnose my issue.

My taco idle isn't 'rough' per-se, but ive noticed once the engine has warmed up, every 5-10 seconds i've notice the tachometer either drops a couple 100 RPMs or picks up some RPMs. Sometimes over 1k, then self corrects back to normal idling ~600-700. There is 120 miles on this thing.

Im going to schedule a service check with the dealer, but maybe theres something I can do to resolve the issue before going to a dealer?

Yes, and I thought that might be the issue; and maybe it is. But ive noticed it when its not on as well. Sorry if it seems like a dumb question, im just trying to get used how the truck sounds, drive, ect.

Not a dumb question. Of course the AC cycling will cause a change in idle speed but other normal things may be happening such as injector cleaning cycle, fuel evap purge system, and others I’m sure. The truck is still learning all of its fuel trims this early in its life so just keep an eye on it and see if it settles.

Bumping the steering wheel will also cause idle fluctuations.

Your AC compressor is always on, even when not using AC. This keeps the seals from drying out and keeps everything lubricated. So even on a cold day when heater is full blast, AC compressor is kicking on and off.

Just drive it with no worries. Do not listen or analyze. Just drive.
I just bought a new vehicle and holy shit it's complicated and I'm an engineer! So far I'm just driving it. Has 400 miles lol.

Welcome aboard! My A/C definitely sucks some of the power away from my mighty 2.7

When the truck was new I thought it might be misfiring. But it turned out to be the A/C compressor cycling.

Came from an 02 Accord. I messaged the dealer the day after I got it saying I had an exhaust leak haha.
