Help with reinstalling camper shell

So, and this is just my opinion:

The bed rail caps are textured
The rough fiberglass is irregular

The GOOD(3M), 2” wide, 1/4” thick open cell foam tape gets ‘squished’ or ‘un-squished’ into all the irregularities and makes a good seal. I have never had any problems, and have had caps for decades.

The corners is where the money is. Trim carefully.

If it’s built, seated and secured correctly it shouldn’t rub the truck paint.

Thanks. Of course, but the bulb seal, when compressed, is 1/4" thick so I don't really see how this is the reason it's not closing in the back well and a different 1/4" seal isn't going to make much difference.

So the seal I used is 1/4" thick when compressed, maybe a bit less with all the weight, so I kinda doubt the seal is too thick. A different foam tape like you suggest might seal better and I'm willing to give that a try, but as for the thickness it's going to be the same so it won't address the back window gap any. Even if it's 1/4" thinner, I don't think that little bit is the issue - at least not the whole issue.

It's also not straight across the back even though the cap itself doesn't seem to be higher on one side.

yeah, but 1/4" isn't making that much difference. The ledge on the back window is probably not very well done as it's not even straight in the pics I posted above.

Also check the margins on the back window, make sure there even.

 

What area are you referring to? The sides seem fine and seal up but not the bottom.

 

The lift gate/ back window on the cap. The gap should be even to the window opening. Hope that makes sense

 

If you mean the part in the pics above, then it's not even. Not sure why. The cap itself isn't higher on one side but the ledge on the window makes it look that way.

 

Does the window open and close nice?

 

Yeah, seems fine. Just not straight.

 

I'm not finding something specifically like that, but I found some neoprene weather stripping. Too stiff?
