    Yeah.
Those look a bit pitted. 4WheelParts, WheelersOffRoad, DownSouthMotorsports. I think those first 2 will assemble. I'd call them and tell them your troubles and see what they suggest.

You can get the KYB's from RockAuto, but they don't assemble and don't have springs available.

Personally, I'd go with 4600 or 5100 Bilsteins with the OME 2880 coil unless they have other coils that get you closer to stock.

I'm really liking the "Kristi comparison"

I'm not a suspension expert but knowing you're spending on other parts of it, I'd say just buy once cry once and get new ones. Especially knowing our lovely state and how it likes to rust out our prized trucks.

In a perfect world I'd have waited a few weeks until now to drop $1100 on my suspension parts as well, but the choice wasn't mine..the truck was getting reframed and I just wanted it done since the old parts were originals.

Regarding sunnyside up..I'll share more in DM, but let's just say that has saved me much grief and lament as well

For a stock ride height, I think the bilstein 4600 shocks with Moog 81104 springs might be a good choice.

Those are aftermarket, stock doesn't use that insulator on the bottom

Well if they are, then I wanna know the brand cuz I have been trying to recall if I have ever had them done. Maybe at frame time back in ‘10? Anyway, they are pretty darned sturdy & if one was to go the quikstrut route, this would be it.

I will say though, I was looking on eBay thinkin’ maybe buying used just for the springs could be a way to go & many? most? (& there are a lot on there) have the insulator. & while I get that anything goes on eBay, there are some reputable used parts sellers on there advertising them as Toyota stock.
Anyway, I did try to find info on the shock itself. In light of this development i’ll look a little more later this morning. @koditten, stay tuned...

Oh, & the eBay thing was not about mine or those being stock or not. I am fully aware that this is not an area of expertise for me. I just threw it out there as curious or possibly interesting.... or not.... ;)

Anyone else with those? I wonder if it could have been Toyota’s solution at frame swap time? Here goes kristi’s wandering, wondering mind....

My Monroe's had that, really it's beneficial as you compress a spring it will rotate a little that insulator on the bottom will allow that rotation/give a freer range of motion

Monroe of gabriel shocks use that style perch. Factory don’t have the plastic collar for the spring perch, oem is stamped and welded in a fixed position

Question on 5100's. I am unsure at this point if I have the lean. It would suck to install coilovers & then find out I do have it. I get that the 5100's can be used for lifting & yes, leveling. A quick search however does not bring up the lean specifically. If I find I do have the lean, could these help adjust it?

Also, other than if some leveling is need, I don't want a lift. In looking at the specs for the OME 2880, they are 500 for spring rate & measure at 14.37. Isn't this shorter than stock? The 2881,s are 500 & 14.75. Longer than stock, correct?

Someone may pipe in that the 2880's are "tried & true". "Just do it." However if you haven't figured out by now, I like to know what I am doing to my truck. Or what I have done that did or did not work. Just be happy I am heading toward Bilsteins.

Also, I ran by a thread in which someone used the monroe quickstrut springs for the 5100's. Just found it interesting. No follow up though.

I think all of our trucks will have the lean unless you do something to correct it. It's just the nature of the weight of the battery, fuel tank and driver all being on the same side. I will say that I feel like it was more noticeable after I replaced my worn factory suspension, but it could just be I was paying more attention to the truck's stance.

The product listings for the 880 (2880) springs usually say it provides an 1 to 1.5" inches of lift. FWIW, I have 881s and they gave me 2-3" of lift in the front. If you're wanting a stock'ish ride height I would probably go with the 880s and 4600s. I'm an engineer so I respect the level of detail you're getting into researching these components. But at the end of the day these are 20 year old trucks and that are all configured slightly differently and that leads to different folks getting different results when new suspension components are installed.

That's if they replaced them..I'm not sure if you owned the truck while that was done. I know on my 2010 (different of course but) they did LCAs, brake lines, rear leafs automatically as part of the program. Though if curious I bet the dealer might be able to find that out....

Right. I am the same, or at least in the respect that I did not have a “the” lean with the old suspension. Mine actually leaned a little to the right.

Then after leaf springs, the rear leaned to the left, but the right front was higher. That’s when I started focusing on the coilovers.
Plus something still didn’t feel right. It would be nice to be able to take care of the lean if it can be accomplished with adjustable shocks. Just not sure if that’s different or not advisable, since your actually altering the shock & coil height.

Anyway, I am seeing in reviews from various sources, that many prefer the 5100’s over the 4600’s in front for ride comfort & 4600’s for the rear. & that’s interesting with the 880’s given the spring height.

    @koditten
    It is a monroe - the 17352
Everything about it tells me it’s sturdier, better built, yet I can find no measurable differences.
Other than the coil count or being more tightly wound.
The one obvious one is the top coil.

Just be clear this is factory assembly comparing to a Monroe quick assembly?
