Here's a type of review I never thought about seeing but now I don't know how I lived without:

Also, my impressions on the drivability from these reviews is that this truck also revs high when you put the power down like the 3rd gens do. It appears that is the way trucks are going because they can squeeze more power out of them and get better fuel economy.

My 2020 Frontier Pro 4X had the direct injected 310HP 3.8 and 9 speed trans. I didn't have to boot is as hard as my 2018 TRD Off Road. It shifted wonderful.

More gears definitely helps. But like the 3.5L in the 3rd gen it is direct injected. The Tacoma is also part time port injected which is mainly used when you don't need the power.

Sarah-N-Tuned review which puts the truck on a lift. Because the platform is carried over from 2nd gen, some of the quirks are already known:

01:25 A lot of close-fitting fenderwell plastic will need trimming to fit larger tires. Stock size is 32" (265/70-17).
08:43 Really flimsy rear axle shock mounts, and the shocks are inboard so they're more exposed on the trail
09:01-09:16 Two-piece rear driveshaft with CV joints at the rear axle and at the carrier bearing, at least for the 2WD version. Exhaust crossover pipe doesn't hang below the frame like the Tacoma's.
    09:38 Plastic transmission pan!
12:21 Very limited rear suspension travel due to the rear sway bar

I would like to have the Kicker tailgate speaker, which it would seem could be easily adapted to the Toyota rail system. Did a Google search, but no leads.

Thanks for the info. However, the question is whether it would mount to the Toyota's rails, as it is designed for the Nissan Utili-track system which might have different dimensions.

You should be able to trim/shim the T-slot bracket as required to fit. I would rather just hard-mount BlueTooth marine speakers in the bed though, so they don't take up any bed space. There's a lot of unused empty space behind the bed walls. Prime location on 2019+ trucks is the blank spot where the LH bed cubby used to be.

I'm not sure why we get certain packages like this but we do. I own 2nd gen, King cab, 6MT Pro-4x myself. Nissan sold the Micra and X-Trail here in recent years and the Qashqai nameplate is used rather than Rogue Sport.

Toyota does it too. We get the Tacoma in an Access cab, TRD Off-road with the 6MT.

That makes as much sense as not selling the OR AC 6spd in the US. I don't like that plastic cladding between the windows. I didn't think the king cab had the plastic, maybe that's a Pro 4X thing. The vinyl on the Tacoma is much better looking and can easily be removed on the DC.

I know the OR AC can be had in the US, but the Ranger Super Cab seems to be the best extended cab midsize truck. Since the Ranger offers more configurations with more options.

If Nissan is going to charge Tacoma money, I think they're making a big mistake. For apples to apples money, most people are gonna go with the Toyota. I'm sure it's gonna be a fine truck, but money is going to matter.

Nissan is charging more than Tacoma money. The way they're pitching it, it's a new design vs. the 6-year old Tacoma. Anyway, MSRP is just a fictional number with production shortages these days. Dealers will charge whatever they can.

Same platform? So sliders skids etc will carry over?! Heckin mint!!!!

I have a friend going to get a lease on one soon. Their still a few K apples to apples below the tacomas. Tacomas will always be the expensive option. These will probably be priced similarly to rangers.

Might be looking that way eventually. Depends how long my Tacoma lasts me

I e been waiting for several Nissan dealers in MA to call me for a test drive and haven't heard back yet...was looking to tryout whatever 22 they would get in stock and if I liked it got a loaded pro-4x in their army'ish green. Haven't heard anything for a few weeks and I've ended up putting a reserve down for a AG Off-road with TRD things (or a lime 22 Pro)....so we'll see if I ever get to try the Nissan.

That's brutal. A few years ago a King Cab Pro-4x, 4.0L 6MT could be had for $28,800 CAD when they were on clear out. Sticker would be $32-33k.

I bought mine used with 47,000 kilometers and a year of warranty remaining for $20,000. Looks like I won't be buying a brand new truck in my life time.
