Actually going to windrock Labor Day weekend. After that I’d like to get a trip to rausch creek planned for the fall. Need to get a couple spare CV’s, tie rods, etc before those trips tho

So I'm going to just post/ask this again.

GF needs some FOA coilover shocks rebuilt and charged. Vehicle is located in Burlington. We were hoping a friend could help with the rebuild and find someone to finish the job... no luck because they are busy...

I have been looking/calling shops that could help us with this work with not much luck even if that means trailering the vehicle 4 hours round trip. Rebuild kit has finally arrived and would like to get this done so we can enjoy URE once it starts cooling off.

Any suggestions for a shop? At this point we are willing to make a drive if needed

I know, I know its a jeep on a tacoma forum.

Can you remove the shocks yourself? I am no help with places to get them rebuilt.

I'm sure I can... safely? Trailering the vehicle to get this done isn't a big deal compared to Compressing the coils without proper tools or knowledge is the bigger problem. If I took them off myself that might save some gas money but not much more?!

Ok, cool. I was always under the impression that the coils were loaded but apparently they won't be after jacking the vehicle up.

I'm going to take them off beginning of this week and send them to FOA.

Edit- sounds like it'll just be cheaper to send them off even with shipping cost. I'll contact that company you mentioned for sure though.

I Also assumed the vehicle needed to be around for re-install to set ride height but apparently that is misinformation as well

Thanks for the help if needed I'll be in touch

    Try to stay cool lol

The coils could still be under compression when you take them off just depends how much preload you got but it won't come apart.

You never found a place local to rebuild them? I will be looking for a place shortly for my Kings. If I need to ship them I know a really good guy in Colorado.

Hello all, I am new to the group and the whole Tacoma world. I've rode dirtbikes out at URE but never went wheeling, nor have I ever done much vehicle off roading in general. I know it's short notice but I'm considering heading out Sunday the 22nd to get my feet wet in the whole off roading thing, any chance anyone is headed out to do some easy stuff and show us the way around? I have a completely stock TRD OR at the moment. Thanks everyone!

Hit up Wolf’s Den - Slab Pile - Rocky Mtn Loop from Wolf’s Den trailhead to the Dutch John trailhead. Completely stock OR, buddy with a 3rd Gen stock OR. Minor rubbing underneath at center, mainly dirt on the berms. Had a fantastic time. Ran the trail in 4Hi, left the tires aired up. Went great, no issues. Saw more Jeep’s than in the entire total previous years of my life.

I know it short notice but myself and few other trucks are headed to Uwharrie this weekend. The more the merrier so if anyone isn't busy meet us down there. I'll be leaving after work on Friday so probably won't get there until late. The plan is to meet at the outpost between 10 and 1030 on Saturday then hit the trails from there.

If you want to contact me I can be reached via text at 443-867-2027 or on IG @almost_a_shitbox_offroad
