What do you consider a large commercial account? What spend level? For example, we spend roughly $70,000 per year at the Avondale Lowe's. Is that a lot?

 

70K annually is a good account to be managed at a store level.
At HD (in this market) we require $110K over 6 months to be managed by a corporate level rep.

Our guys are in and out of the tore all the time. Nickel and dime stuff. Large projects, we go to more focused vendors. Local lumber yard for wood. HVAC distributors, industrial tool vendors, etc.

 

yes, they finance.

no, they don't accept gordita crunches as payment.

you might be surprised how competitive we can be with wholesale lumberyards. I am wrapping up a project for 4 New construction homes in Philadelphia and the framing package was $178,000. I was the lowest bidder.
When it comes to HVAC there pretty much isn’t anything that we cannot get our hands on now that we have a relationship with multiple supply chains through the former Interline Brands.
When it comes to industrial tools, again not much that we can’t get our hands on. I’m willing to bet you’re just not speaking to the right people at HD.

unfortunately I think the closest store that we have to Kennett Square is the one that is in Glen Mills and we do not have a very robust pro representation in that location.

 

Our lumber is mostly rough cut cypress for mushroom beds. There's a yard in town the services the mushroom industry almost exclusively. HVAC is mostly parts for commercial refrigeration, usually time sensitive. We can have most things same, if not next day. Plumbing is similar. HD doesn't stock 2-1/2" steam rated valves. Some of our power tools come from a smaller Milwaukee/Rigid distributor. Sometimes his prices are better than HD, but he cannot touch a special buy price. He knows the deal and why I shop where I do. He's a good friend from childhood. He also takes care of us at repair and warranty time.

I shop at the HD's in delaware. Almost as close as Glen Mills and no tax. There's no way I could send our guys there. They'd spend all day driving back and forth.

 

Yep. Not exactly a great fit. We certainly don’t deal with that rough cut cypress.

best to take advantage of the seasonal deals and 7-11 shop HD.
