I'm looking for custom solutions to installing a base speaker in my 06 Pre with Access Cab. I keep reading stuff like see Mr. Marv but can't seem to find him anywhere. So if you have a link for him post it please and if you have a custom solution for your bass speaker in your access cab, I want to see it. Thanks

No its all measured out. Its hard to see from the pictures but it doesn't. I still have an index finger width between the sub and the center consul at full excursion.

Bet it thumps your truck really good. What amp you got and how much is it pushing?

    10 Taco Access Cab Sport
Throwing in my two cents here. And taking a deep bow in the direction of Mr. Marv. He's building me a very small enclosure to fit in my '10 access cab. My first priority was to limit the space it takes up. Now, the '10 is a bit different from previous access cab models so I'm talking specifically about what works in my space. According to Marv, a similar concept can be employed with earlier access cabs just not as easily.

The '10 has a rear storage area between the two front-facing rear seats. It is held in place with 4 bolts which attach it to a metal bracket. The enclosure will be a direct bolt-in for that space and will be L shaped like several of the photos in this thread. It stops short of the rear of the cab so seat belt access is not an issue. The rough "box" dimensions are 12"DX11-1/2"H if you were to square off the L shape. It projects out 4-1/2" in front of the mounting plate for the storage locker, so it's taking up only a very tiny bit more space than the existing storage locker did. Plenty of room between the front of it and the rear of the front center console.

The magic trick to make all this work was picking the right sub. I'm going with a 10" shallow mount by Pioneer. This sub has an optimum sealed enclosure volume of only 0.45 cubic feet!!! According to all reviews, it still puts out excellent bass response and sounds great. The model is the Pioneer TS-SW2501S4 and I'll feed it with 200W RMS at 4 ohms by bridging the rear two channels of an Alpine PDX-F4 that is going under the front seat. The front two channels will power component speakers in the front two doors. Should be plenty of power to make the mirrors vibrate. You can find it on eBay for half of the MSRP, including delivery.

For me, this seems to be the best solution. I regularly use the rear of my access cab for work and the kids are back there for around-town errands 2X a week, so I couldn't sacrifice any space or put something on the floor. I also did not want to do any permanent alterations to the cab of the truck by cutting out holes or cutting off the back of the front center console in order to stuff a sub in there with a very expensive Stealth Box. I researched putting an 8" powered sub under the passenger seat but couldn't find any good solutions that fit or would sound as good. I've been told an 8" sub isn't big enough to reproduce enough of the deep end of a lot of music. Now, the amp will be out of view under my seat and the sub will occupy basically the same footprint as the storage locker. Should have some pictures of it by the end of the month.

Marv is a wealth of knowledge and a hell of a nice guy. I recommend talking to him if you have special needs like minimizing space, etc. He also has solutions for earlier access cabs. His phone number is easy to find by doing a quick search on this thread. Good luck with your project.

PS My first attempt at uploading a photo. I drew up a very rough sketch of what the basic dimensions are probably going to be. It is not exact and I'm not even the guy building it (Mr. Marv is) but this is what I think it will look like, for what it's worth.

I have a JL 1000/1 amp. I finally had enough balls to turn it up a bit and its LOUD. The port is tuned around 32Hz so I can rip paper and make your sleeves flap with that bad boy haha. Once I have sometime away from school I will be able to post a video. I have my whole truck dynamated so I don't have any rattles anymore. I left the roof to begin with but the sunglass holder started rattle. Thanks for the compliments.

And how does one contact Mr. Marv; whoever he is or does he exist at all?
