Getting some stuff ready to put my TRD supercharger on this next week.

Gonna refill the coolant with new as I’m close to 100k anyhow, engine takes 9quarts, how much is needed for the supercharger?

 

Nice. D'ya end up paying full asking for it or were you able to get a deal? Tuning device was included too?

 

Anyone aware of a part number for the 170 degree thermostat that urd sells? If I could find one locally at Napa or wherever that would be awesome.

Motorad 456-160 is the 160° version if that helps

 

About a quart and a half.

 

…also always keep an eye on that intercooler reservoir. Those hoses are known to leak.

 

I'm still running this Thermostat housing that originally came with the apr x-1 and want to change the thermostat as one of the last things I wanted to change before starting up my truck with the new heads. I have one a replacement 170 degree on order from urd but is not here yet (I'm in Hawaii). You guys think I'll be fine running the engine to operating temp with the stock thermostat and housing back in and only tap water from garden hose for initial startup. Then drain system again and then put 50/50 pink coolant. I assume tap water shouldn't affect the system if in there less than 24 hours.

 

So progressing on my engine removal. Got the starter out. My god. Fuck that thing with the DTLT headers. Got the drivers side header unbolted but not removed. Gotta disconnect the steering shaft which I’ll do tomorrow. Also Unmounted the ac compressor and steering pump. Lines are still connected just not mounted to block anymore. Supercharger is removed. Still working on the wiring harness. Once that’s disconnected, engine should be ready to pull out. I’m done for the day. Fucking tired and hot. Damn sun is pointing right down at the engine bay. Also, removed the crank position sensor and it had a lot of shavings on it too.

 

Next question, how hard is it to get the tank res thing out? And best strap wrench for the job? I've broken these before and this one feel about ready to give. It's a 6.5" diameter and the max size of the strap wrenches I found at the auto stores was the one pictured at 6.5"

As did I. I broke a few of the tabs in the process but that's because plastic is weak and not as impact friendly as metal.

 

well, learned a lucky lesson. got my 3rd member welded today. my trac bar mount weld started weeping fluid. maybe ill drive easier....but probably not.
