Just put these USB outlets in on both sides of the bed in the master suite. I dunno why I didn't do this earlier.

 

This is a great idea!! I might have to do it!

 

Took 7 minutes each and now the wireless chargers for our phones and watches aren't taking up regular plugs

 

Makes so much sense!!

 

I've been running speaker wire for a 5.1 surround sound. An open ceiling in the basement makes it easy

 

One on the kitchen counter and one in the living room next to an end table are also pretty damn handy.

 

I've thought about it in the living room, but I don't know about the kitchen.

The house was built in 1936 with no ceiling lights in the living room. Instead, the top half of the outlets are hot all the time and the bottom half are on a switch. That's going to get changed soon.

 

my last house came with one in the kitchen, was actually pretty handy for when wife used her iPad to follow a recipe. Had one on one side of the bed in master and Ended up adding a 2nd to the other side.

 

Well it took more than 1 day, but trimmed a bunch of the trees on the property. Got 28 of them and it's a hell of a job. I feel like I just got in a fight and didn't win.

 

is the plan to wire them all hot then use the switch to operate some remodel cans in the lid?

Most outlets have a shared charging chip between the 2 USB slots and output from 4-5A combined. These outlets have 2 charging chips. One is on the USB A slot and one is shared between the other USB A slot and the USB C slot. Total of 12A combined. These weren't around when I did mine a few years back but I'm considering ordering 4 of them and replacing the one's I have. 1/2 my devices are USB C and that number is only going to go up.

It would be nice, but I don't want to have to rip out lathe and plaster just for a few lights. We have 3 floor lamps with smart bulbs and I'm just going to take the switch out and wire nut that circuit hot all the time.

Good bit of work to pull that 30' or so of old chain link out. Whoever planted bushes/vines/that tree right in front of the chain link deserves no less than 400 life sentences in a federal prison .

Still have roughly 120' of decrepit chain link to remove in the coming weeks along with 6-ish stumps to have ground out.
Shouldn't be as bad since there arent as many plants intertwined with it. Then it will be time to eat the cost of privacy fencing later this winter. Cant wait to turn this house from being the eye sore of the neighborhood to the best looking home on the block though.

 

And another project done. She wanted a simple coat rack, she picked out what she wanted and I did the rest.

 

When I bought my sectional I decided to put one of those inside the arm rest container. That way we have ways to charge phones and tablets and whatever else we want. I installed an old work box and I just wired the receptacle to a 3 prong cord that plugs into another one in the wall behind it.

 

That's smart. Now days, they just build them into each arm rest.

 

Yea, some of the ones when I started looking had them. The one we ordered didn’t. I figure I could add something myself. Was just gonna put a power supply in and get some automotive one. However when I was looking around one day for some stuff around the house I seen those and thought that was a better and easier solution. Guess to think of it now my sectional is like 6 or 7 years old

 

You might want to look for ones with PD 3.0 branding. New devices can handle higher than 5V charging and the PD 3.0 spec regulates that. For example, my Samsung and new iPhones will take 9V @ 15-20W for their quick charging instead of the old standard 5V @ 3A.
