And it was at Furlong Lamp when I parked for a photo op with two other Tacos that I discovered the backup camera was acting up again…

But when I left maybe ten minutes later, it was working fine!

I am beginning to think that this might be a loose connection and not related to the refrigerator incident as previously thought…

I think there are 3 connections:
    At the camera
    Below the bumper
    At the HU

I may be in the market for a front camera as mine has fairly poor resolution.

Mine has a great resolution, when it’s working!

They’re called bumpers for a reason. Brail parking.

Those same people depended on mirrors instead of turning the head. No such thing as idiot proof.

I really only use the backup camera when I’m in close quarters or when there are a lot of people around who could sneak behind my truck…

    Ditto.
Having a cap with that space often filled the camera affords a view that gets lost by the middle mirror and isn’t covered by the side mirrors. The wide angle lens also allows me to see past vehicles to either side when I can’t see through or over them as well as low down where kids and dogs frequently are. It’s true though, nothing helps if you don’t use it(mirrors, cameras, eyes, flexible neck).

I’m not used to handling such a large truck so the camera helps tremendously /s

jk, I drive class 1 for a living. Wouldn’t give up my camera for anything.

I use all of them; I worked at a bar from November 2014 to January 2019...

Once in early 2015, I drove my boss to the state liquor store (It's a very annoying PA thing, having state-run liquor stores) so she could give them a check for some booze; It was both cold and humid, my defogger sometimes doesn't always work worth a damn, and my windows were fogged up. While I was waiting for my boss, a group of people from Connecticut in a Prius pulled into the space behind me (this was street parking); This was almost two years before my truck had a backup camera...

My boss got in the truck, and I just blindly reversed, not realizing a car had shown up; My back bumper hit the front license plate of the Prius (like I said, he was from Connecticut) right in front of the shocked owner and his family (they had gotten out of the car). Luckily, there was no damage to either vehicle and we happily went our separate ways!

One of the biggest tragedies to befall this country before backup camera became common was people backing over kids (often in large SUVs) they didn't realize were there. I can check my mirrors all I want, but I cannot see below the tailgate of my truck when I'm behind the wheel; There are a lot of oblivious children in my neighborhood, and having a backup camera is just another insurance policy against backing over someone's toddler or small dog...

I agree. And probably the vast majority of my class 1 coworkers as well. The more info the better. Sure I can back up a 70ft+ vehicle blindside using nothing but instinct but I choose not to because it’s safer and my ego isn’t so precious.

My truck just passed PA state inspection at my mechanic, but he discovered this; He said I should get it looked at by the dealer and I have every intention of doing so…

    Should I be worried?

Aside from the one possible trouble spot my mechanic found, the rest of the frame looks good for a 2010 Tacoma with almost 137K miles that’s spend it’s whole life in Pennsylvania…
