You're right, they both look equally tinted. Didn't realize they were that dark.

This appeared to do the trick. We got about 2 hours of heavy and light rain yesterday and not a single drop got into the bed. I would recommend sealing up that seam prior to installing the cap and save yourself the headache.

Stilllllll waiting for ship notification on a cap that supposedly arrived in the US weeks ago -

RSI is giving one away soon - maybe I'll win and it'll arrive sooner than the one I paid for!

-buuut since I never win these things anyhow, here's a link to enter - maybe one of my TW friends will win:thumbsup:

Did you use a torque wrench to install the cap? How important is it? What torque wrench did you use? Thanks

How hot/cold does it get inside since the cap is made out of stainless steel??

How do you get out when inside and the latches get latched (I might be slightly paranoid)

How thick/sturdy are the windows (security/preventing break in)

yes! Use a torque wrench. There two different specs… 1 for the clamps to bed… a different one for the modular sections to seal together. (If that makes any sense).

I got by with a cycling specific torque wrench.. but I’d recommend a decent 0-100 for this job.

probably want to double check them every few months depending on how bumpy you like to get.

Watch it torquing the mid rail bolts. Dont bend the cap rail. You can go tight and a 1/4 turn.

Do you have a pic by chance of how much space it takes up in the bed? Worried my spare could be in the way

Finally got that rack on, used the normal mounts and a couple washers and she barely clears.

Looks solid, the SmartCap is a game changer. Good decision.
