    Beer Advocate rates #1 a 48.

    From what I read, respondents were asked to name a beer they would not drink if offered. The respondents were self professed “beer drinkers”.

    I will agree that experimentals can be “questionable” (thank god for rinse water and pour buckets) and borne of desperation to create something new. However, Rauchbier CAN be delicious. Sadly it takes a trained hand - either a subtle note of chemistry or the haunting affront of house fire. If they’re making it from a Mr. Beer kit, they’re doing it wrong.

    I’ll take your word on it haha. I have tried a handful of commercial Domestic and European versions and I just can’t get over the tobacco smoke taste.

    Same reason I don’t drink much Isley Scotch…
