There are plenty of threads on here talking about the high cost of Tacoma's, if a diesel option were available it would probably add another 5 grand, just cant imagine many people choosing that.

If Toyota offered a torquey diesel in a base-option 4WD, with a locker, I think they would sell well, but maybe not enough to cover the emissions R&D necessary to introduce a new diesel to the market in 2021.

A basic 4WD Tacoma, with a good, low-revving diesel in it would be awesome but I don’t think we’ll ever see it..

The only way they could come close to covering the R&D costs would be to only offer it on high trim levels where the price could be higher.

Might be the first Tacoma to break 100K. Toyota is not afraid of 6 figures anymore. The top spec Landcruiser 300 would be over $100K USD if sold stateside.

The price of new vehicles is getting astronomical.

I'm all about the new color for the 2022 TRD Pros. I'd drive one of those in a heartbeat.

Oh, I’m dumb enough that I’d easily pay 5k over for a diesel. But it won’t happen. Definitely not in California. A diesel electric hybrid would really be the cats meow, but that won’t happen either.

Does it look like the suspension changed much on the TRD Pro from 2021 to 2022? I see the forged upper control arms, but... Did the amount of the lift change?

It seems odd that you can get a TRD Off-Road with their OEM Toyota factory TRD Lift Kit that offers more lift than the TRD Pro. And... the TRD pro can't add this lift as a lift option to stay in warranty compliance.

I personally don't like the green on a Tacoma. It just says "flashy sports car wannabe" to me.
That's just my opinion & if you like it, I'm happy you do.
(Maybe some racing stripes and a track number would complete the look.)

Diesel! never they stinks while filling and spilling, smell inside of cab forever, expensive more than gas and not sure if you would get the speed of a Tacoma or pass the emission laws. No my cup of tea but some would love em.

Hard pass on Diesel. I want a Hybrid Tacoma, better yet, a Plug-in Hybrid with about 30 miles of all-EV range. If Jeep can do it with a 4xe Wrangler, so can Toyota.

Toyota's hybrid system is already second-to-none (10 years and 175k flawless miles on our Prius) no reason they can't expand that to the truck lineup.

It won't happen until the next gen truck though.

I would love a hybrid Tacoma but were would they store the batteries in another question without take any of the minimal available space that is there now.

A big question mark for sure, you would likely lose the storage space under the seats in the doublecab.

That is not a big loss as I only use for jack storage. Batteries are fair size so not sure if they fit them under the rear seats. I think it would have to be a secret compartment under the truck somewhere maybe where the spare tire is now. I am sure they will figure it out.

Toyota will continue to disappoint all of you. Everyone always has high expectations, but get nothing in return.

Toyota knows that they will do a very minor thing like release a new color and everyone will go crazy and buy it up.
They will put electric seats in this year and people will trade in their 2 year old trucks for it.

so why would Toyota do something dramatic that will cost they a lot of money when they can make all the money by barely changing anything.

Yep, recently got a hybrid Venza and big fan of hybrid already. A hybrid Tacoma would be awesome. People talk about the low end torque of a diesel engine, that is nothing compared to the low end toque of a electric motor that puts 100% of it available toque from 0 RPM to 6000 RPM. Considering next gen Tundra will most likely have hybrid option, NexGen Tacoma will follow as well.
