Just that one spot ? If your mechanic says it’s ok for state inspection I wouldn’t worry too much.

Still bringing it to the dealer; Warranty on frame replacement is up at the end of September because that’ll be 12 years since the truck was purchased new…

Does it have under 160k miles? Toyota wouldn’t do mine since it had passed that, but maybe some dealers will be different

Last time I checked, it had nothing to do with mileage. The frame is covered for 12 years after the first in-service date - if you take it to the dealership for inspection and treatment.

If you're talking a State inspection, have your trusted mechanic do it. If you're talking about inspecting the frame to keep you covered for 12 years - you have to go to a dealer.

Only a dealership can make that determination. Your frame actually looks pretty good.

Before anybody goes telling me to get a new mechanic, hear me out…

    • My truck only suffered a bent wheel stud…
    • My mechanic is fixing the damage free of charge…
    • My mechanic is letting me use one of his old Volvos while he fixes my truck…
    • My mechanic’s mom is in the hospital…
    • I love my mechanic and have known him for too long to be mad…

Just waiting for my mechanic to replace the wheel studs and I’m bringing to the dealer; Currently driving my mechanic’s Volvo…

Stopped by Toyota dealer and showed service manager the picture; He says it looks eligible.

Wow that sucks, hopefully that would be on Toyota's dime.

Not to poop on your parade, but eligible and approved are two very different words. Your truck is eligible for a new frame if you meet certain conditions. If you meet all of those conditions - and that is determined by the dealership - you may be approved for a new frame. You, your mechanic and the internet do not hold any sway over the dealer's decision. Hint: Be nice to your dealer. Good luck!
