starter rebuild

i have a 1998 tacoma 3.4 v6 and i believe my starter is going out. sometimes all i get when i trun the key is one click takes some times 5-6 of turning the key it finally cranks. has anyone rebuilt there starter. if so do yall have a write up with pictures.lol i know that you have to replace the plunger and the contacts is there anything else. i know i can get a starter for 100 bucks but probly not as good as the oem starter

 

im not real sure ill have to put the meter on it tomorrow

i just found this to. i guess the 200 4runner would have the same starter or close to it. i guess all i need to change are the contacts. and just clean up the plunger

if i go to a starter rebuild shop could i just match up contacts and reuse the bolts and just clean the plunger if its in good shape
and put everything back rogether.

thanks man. yea i think im going to go to a shop that rebuild starters and buy 2 contacts from them so that i can keep the factory starter

 

well i got in the truck today and it started on the first crank everytime. then tonight it started up but started making aloud screathing noise i cut the truck off and it sounded like th starter was still running then tried to start it again and it started up fine. what could have made that noise even after the truck was running?
