I'd have to go with the bed step and the auto tailgate lock add-on.

PS: OEM bed mat goes without saying. Without it that bed is slicker than snot on a door knob!

KDMaxx tune, vent shades, %20 tint and hidden winch. All of my suspension work, including air bags, hammer hangers, 5160's, UCA's and 6112's were an improvement but did not provide the value of the above. Sound deadening in doors and can walk has been beneficial, but I don't think I'm even back to stock with tires and roof rack noise.

The one item that I notice everytime I drive is the bed mat.
That plastic bed is like ice. First week ownership without it drove me nuts with stuff sliding around.

Gears (5.29 Nitro) Hands down. I couldn't stand the way the transmission shifted....or didn't shift. It would hang on to gears too long and I was always fighting it with the gas pedal to get it to play nicely. It was not a small endeavor to get them installed (aka....spendy AF) but worth it for my peace of mind when driving on the interstates and highways.

    Window vent shades for sure.
EDIT: Adding Spiker Engineering Hood Struts.

And as many have suggested a folding Tonneau cover. But I would suggest a different one than the BackFlip MX4.
I would suggest the Undercover Armor Flex.
Why? Undercover is a sister company of BackFlip so the two are made very similar.
But the Undercover has couple of advantages.
    • When folded up the cover does not rest against the cab.
    • It is also coated with Line X bedliner.

    Also more recently a softopper.

Bed mat and bed step, by far the most useful mods so far. Too damn cheap to do a tune!

Owned an AT 21 Taco, traded it in toward an MT 21 Taco after a test drive, it's just that much better, even without a tune/regear.

That is sweet. Wife's Forester has this, and I have no idea why any manufacturer wouldn't do this.
