I have some wheels like that I painted medium gray. They look smooth but I wish I would have kept them brighter to contrast the darkness of my truck like yours. Looking good. I’m prob gonna redo the wheels (3rd time lol) to end up original looking after all.

Gorgeous! I’ve got the exact same shell. Any luck finding spare parts for it? Having trouble myself.

Also, how’d you get those fenders looking so snazzy?

Thanks nchiker1!... to be honest with you I just got the topper a couple days ago and no need for parts yet ... I try to keep fenders and the rest of the truck clean all the time

Does any company still produce the 1st gen double cab camper shell. I have been looking on craigslist for 3 months now in Florida and not one has popped up for sale. If I can't find a decent topper I will throw a uws tool box back there and call it a day, but I would rather have a topper

My $500 Glasstite special, had to drive 4 hours to south TX , I'm 3rd owner, story was it was painted from a Toyota dealer in Montana for a new custom 04 DC that had it on the showroom floor.

Check on facebook marketplace. Here's a shell for sale in FL, and a couple Tacoma's for sale with shells on them. Don't know what your specific model/color are, but this was a quick search. You'll probably find more if you try various words/searches (camper shell, camper, shell, topper, top, etc.)

FYI, I got mine when I found a guy who was selling a truck w/ shell matching my color and offered him a price on just the shell. Good luck! Edit: woops, wrong year on the first link.

Yeah you can buy them brand new from Sungtop and ARE. I finally pulled the trigger on a new ARE after months of looking for a decent shell, it wasn't cheap but definitely worth it.

Are they in the $1500 range for the mid tier?

For the extended cab the base model V series shell started at $1,695. That was without the headliner or the tilting front window which I also ordered. I would think the double cab shell would be right around that with those options since it's significantly smaller in size.

    Yikes!
I'll keep looking on CL or FB for used. Or maybe go with another softopper.

It seems to be easier to find them for the DC's, but the extended cab ones are a little harder to find. I figured I'd be able to source a decent shell for $500, was quoted $500 to have it painted, and then resealed for an extra $250 and it's still going to be at least 18 years old. I'd rather spend the extra couple hundred bucks and get a brand new one outfitted how I'd like it to be.
