Pulled the engine from the truck I purchased a month or so ago. DF98A4FE-1829-484C-9185-3F39E465437F.jpgI had the engine on a chain and engine balancer hanging from the bucket of my 76 Massey Ferguson and my tractor ends up dying, luckily over the asphalt in front of my garage so I got it on the stand and drug it into the garage.37D99296-3AED-4753-98D1-33AFF678D2FE.jpgI was looking for a donar truck with a decent body, a rebuildable 5vz would have been a plus- happen upon a guy on Craigslist moving to Alaska selling his 2000 with identical drivetrain but less than 90k miles and a supercharger. Only problem the things in pieces and has been sitting for three years.

Gonna go through the whole thing and replace anything that’s got rust, then put the new body and drivetrain on my frame/axles/suspension 2FBD56CE-7823-450A-9DCE-25C5591F2E0A.jpg Took two 200 mile trips down and back, first one to get the frame w/ the engine, trans and case.7F82B08A-8727-4BB8-BEA5-33053507CE64.jpg
Went down last weekend and got the rest, 4 of us with my Silverado and trailer and my Tacoma that I loaded the bed and put on the canopy.

You rebuilt the double cardan joint? Any write ups on that or part numbers? I’d always heard they weren’t rebuildable, would really appreciate some info on it

I’d suggest pulling your sway bar off and discounting your tie rods. It allows for the rack to move around a lot more and will take less time overall in the job then if you skip those steps to “save” time.

Local shop does them. I wasn’t the one that did the double Cardon. But yes the parts are out there and I think there’s a write up floating around somewhere

I used this video below to help with the rack bushing install. No need to remove the rack, I didn't even need to disconnect the tie rods. But you do have to unbolt it and wiggle it around some. Doing that on the ground and working within the really tight spaces was a PITA but overall it wasn't a hard job. Would be 10x easier with the truck on a lift instead of jack stands I bet.

here's the video, as a plus the guy is pretty entertaining as well

I will say it one more time just to be annoying/get the point across having done this 4 times now. Disconnecting the tie rods will make this job much easier and really only takes a couple of mins to do it. If you don’t have joint kit, heat the knuckle up and give it a wack with a big hammer, they pop right out. It gives you much more room to get the old bushings out.

    That looks great!
Looks like it's designed for a dual swingout with how long the arm is?

Does it have a receiver hitch under the plate or anywhere else?

edit: nevermind I looked at their website.

I'm trying to replace my passenger CV following @turbodb 's guide and I have the CV fully disconnected but cannot figure out how to snake it out.

I removed my sway bar end link but there still isn't enough space to get it out. Do I need to disconnect the coilover too or is there a trick I'm missing?

I've always just pulled it pretty much straight out. Never removed anything that wasn't necessary to move the knuckle. Looks like your sway bar might be in the way, most remove theirs with coilovers.

You can remove the lower bolt on the cover and pull it out a bit to get more room

Removing the lower bolt on the coilover gave me the space I needed. And yeah, I think you're right; most write ups are either sans sway bar or w/OEM coils which are much smaller.

I replaced my door checks. Used this video as a guide:

It made a big difference. My doors will stay open now, even on a slope. I had forgotten there is a half way open spot it also will stay at. Hasn't done that for years.

While I had the door panels off I also replaced the outside door handles with the all metal ones I bought a few months ago.
