which is bs in any case, it's perfectly legal to make a gun, as long as you aren't selling it as a business.

I might be out of line with rules here. Why not just sell 79%er's? lol

Where is the line if/when you have a desktop CNC machine and a block of aluminum?

    going to be fun!
The Virginia Citizens Defense League sent out this email the morning:

Rare Breed Triggers has been marketing their “Forced-Reset Trigger” (FRT) that allows a person to fire an AR-15 very quickly, but with the trigger finger firing one shot per pull of the trigger.

BATFE sent a letter to Rare Breed saying they consider the trigger to be a machine gun.

Rare Breed, which is owned by a lawyer, has fired back with a lawsuit against the BATFE and the Department of Justice. The issue is supposed to be in court on the 18th for the purpose of Rare Breed getting an injunction against the BATFE.

Time to get out the popcorn.

Since ATF does not make laws but rather makes them without Congressional Approval this is going to be a wild one...

Some I have talked too in the past few days agree that this is going to be a wild Testosterone battle of the ages and also agree the trigger is legal but on some very fine lines. What's funny is Rare Breed never did submit a sample letter to the ATF and are relying on the law as written (never was made law Congressional approval and signed into law by the President) and the current Ex-ATF agents working for the company.

Even know this may have changed the discussion on Binary Triggers after this action by ATF to be legal but that too may be short lived. One thing is that these don't reset by force like the RB trigger and you pull the trigger once and hold.

    Some videos on the situation:

What is up with the Rare Breed FRT-15 Trigger? Is it a machine gun?

yea ive been following it very closely lol. Ive watched just about every video on YouTube so far. Its not by the NFA definition, but kind of is a look hole. Although does shoot as fast as a machine gun pretty much.

    Yeah.
LOL. Technically, based on how the rule is written, I see Rare Breed's point. But I think the spirit of the rule is a bit different. So yeah, probably an expensive battle.

Like Kenny Rogers famously said. You have to know when to hold em, and when to fold em.

I know people that have had their lives (needlessly) ruined by bowing up to the ATF. The moment they hear you say "come at me brah", that's exactly what they do.

This is a company however. It’s not the first time the ATF has came after specific manufacturers and it’s not like the ATF has ever been caught over reaching, as they tend to do.

It’s also not the same as a redneck in west Virginia talking about how he “won’t comply” because they “know their rights.” That persons life might be ruined, the companies have a long court battle ahead of them.

That being said, and to you point to know when to fold…it doesn’t look like they ever had a approval letter for the trigger in question. Combined with the definition change of a single stage trigger that came out of the bump stock ban. Which makes it hard to seem righteous. I’m not for NFA, or any deterioration of gun rights, I’m just saying how it is.

I agree. But look at what has happened to the "solvent trap" businesses. No "determinations" either and that's an even "less grey" area..... (lots of quotes.....)

Unless they're Google or Amazon, the risk vs reward balance is quite different.
