give me some 37s and OEM steering parts and I'll show you failure in 90 miles :luvya: :luvya: :luvya: :luvya:

nah, 90 miles is like 49910 miles short of the shortest interval I'd expect them to last given your usage. Sucks they failed so early

Oooh, so yeah, they are like the 3-wheezy.

Actually, it's a fixable issue and not nearly as bad as the 3-wheezy was. At least the motor makes more power than that turd did.

What the process to fix it? I thought the issue had to do with how thin the meat is between the cylinder walls?

Nope, not that at all. The issue is with cooling of the #4 cylinder, that's the side that fails most often. Subaru didn't design the cooling system to pass coolant efficiently thru that side of the engine, only the driver side. The fix, which helps immensely from what I have read, is called the "cylinder 4 cooling mod". It taps coolant flow from the heater lines and passes that into the driver side cylinder head, giving it better coolant flow on that side of the engine.

This diagram shows the concept well. The blue box with the arrow is the cooling mod added in. Otherwise, no flow like on the passenger side.

That's weird. What would cause inners to fail so quick? How are you confirming they're bad?

I wonder if mine might be the reason my rack makes lovely turning noises sometimes, inners are 2 years old but they're not OEM (555s)

New OEM PS pump came with a bend in the return pipe. Looks like it had been dropped on it.

Yep. It looks like that pipe is removable. If the old one is not bent, I might be able to swap it into the new pump. I'm sure it uses an o-ring.

My new OEM steering rack arrived last week and I could see the rack through the box. Aluminum all scarred and oil stains. Fedex also lost it when I sent it back.

Wish dealers could pack things a tiny bit better.
