Catch 22 I guess here. Don't want to put too many miles before my big trip, but have to drive so not to have lifter tock. Maybe it was more pronounced beyo havent driven in a couple weeks an need an oil change

    Whole lotta stuff
Lol classic Toyota lifter tick. Been no stranger to that since my 22r-e pickup. Got a kick out of the fact that the 4.0L used the same oil filter when I got it.

I pulled this out today, for science! Really though I added this and the cam gears at the same time, and I’ve been curious if just the gears will net better mpg’s. I’ll report back after a few tanks

There not in the pic but I have my second installation under my belt. 90B8FFC3-1890-4FA0-97B8-54A4C4D95C30.jpg The drive side was a mofo to pop loose me at 340# and my big buddy at 375# put enough hurt on it that the cam was slipping in the 24mm wrench. Went to a buddy’s shop and got a Snapon 24mm and 17mm extended Flank drive. Sounded like a gun shot when it broke loose.

Also, I noticed my throttle body is filthy, I've never cleaned it since I got it at about 92k miles. Sitting at 169k now. I didn't clean it today because I don't have any cleaner on hand. Also, did not want to change anything but removing the spacer. After two or three tanks though, I want to clean it. What is everyone using to clean the throttle body? I also need to install an oil catch can since there was some oil on the gasket for the spacer. I know the PCV valve is good because I replaced it when I installed the gears and spacer along with the spark plugs.

looking to get these installed in southern california. i'm on 255/80s now so up to 33, although the tires are "only" 50lbs each. I feel a little loss of power, but not much. hoping cam gears helps without having to regear my prerunner.

I just through cleaning my TB an hour ago. I wish I had taken a picture on how dirty it was. The back side probably had a 1/32” tar on the butterfly and sides. Took a half can of CRC Throttle body cleaner and a tooth brush. I paid particular attention to the seam where the butterfly flap touches the body and the flap. It’s not sparkling clean but a ton better. The idle is smooth and steady now.
