If people would quit paying msrp or more for the truck, they wouldn't be unicorns. Im sorry. I would never pay msrp or more for any vehicle. I'd rather keep what I have until discounts start showing up again even if it takes a year or two.

I agree only a total fool would pay msrp for any vehicle. If i can't get at least $3k off the msrp price, i'll shop elsewhere.

I don't mind paying over 35k on these trucks for the trim, and technology package/options i wanted now that i'm approaching 70, and now financially set. When i was much younger it was a different story trying to save as much as possible while doing without a lot of stuff others had.

got my 2020 Quicksand TRD OR for $38K a year ago this month, MSRP was $43K. If the dealerships had want MSRP or more, I would still be driving my GX460.

You got pay to play. Higher demand and lower supply = inflated prices. I would expect mid 2022 for prices to level out. If you don't need a vehicle right away it's a smart choice to let the next sucker pay the premium.

I bought mine last august when lots only had 2 or 3 tacomas on the lot and they usually sold within a day or two. Lots were trying to recover from the covid plant shut down of roughly 2 months but I still managed 4k off msrp. Not much different than what is going on right now as far as instock inventory. Probably was worse last year as the overall supply was lower for 2020's vs 2021. Toyota is on pace to sell the most taco's ever in a year in 2021. Im guessing with Chevy and ford not having anything to sell has moved people over to toyota since they can supply the vehicle and the others cant. I cant think of any other reason for the demand for tacos to increase so much from last year. Nothing has really changed with the vehicle.

I am in the same boat and era as you my friend. We had nothing growing up things were tight but now it pays off at 70 I can afford any damn toy that I want. You have to plan ahead for the future but most kids today don't know how cause they live in their mommie's basements with all their toys, it will creep up on them as they age then they will kick themselves in the arse for being so iresponsible and oh yeah mommy won't be there to bail you out of the debt hole. Just sayin..

Throughout the 2021 and 2020 price thread Pennsylvania has consistently been better pricewise than most other places. Someone suggested that midsize trucks are not as popular there compared to full-size.

Ordered a 2022 today. Will be paying MSRP, and am OK with that. 1st time ever.
But 5-10% "market adjustment" ? No thanks. Some dealers do it, some do not.
    (2) dealers that do not "gouge" are Toyota of Carlsbad, and Longo Toyota.
Bought my 1st SR5 4X4 from Longo in 1985. And 2nd new one in 1995. So, went with them.
I get the shortage. But can't go over MSRP. On something as basic as a truck.

(Side note, am 60. And still will not take it in the vent)

These dealers are probably laughing all the way to the bank knowing they will get away with this as long as there's fewer trucks they can get.

Some folks can't look 2-4 months into the future.
If I wanted to save $$ I would wait a year or 2. When selling prices are again well under MSRP.
But here we are. In a medical and political shit show. Where anything goes.
I would wait, but used car prices make up the difference. And then some.
Sold a 1994 100k mile SC300 today. And will sell the 95 T100 when the 2022 shows up.
    So its a wash.

    It's a poor man's MK4 Supra. A buddy of mine has one that's pushing 550-600 rwhp.

Looks great, man! Well taken care of. Kid got a hell of a deal.

Mind me asking how much is this gonna set you back for the 2022. Dealers here are not accepting 2022 orders yet and no prices available on the Toyota websites just curious.

Not official, but I understand around $100-200 increase on the base model. So, no big deal.
2022's are unchanged for the most part. Tried for a 2021, but no dice. Chip / parts shortages' / Dealer price gouging / etc. So will be getting a 2022. And am fearful the next Tacoma redesign will have the huge through the bumper grill Toyota and Lexus are heading towards. So, now is the time.

So this means you are guessing that it will be couple of hundreds dollars on the base model. You must have an idea you signed papers to order so they had to give you a definite price cause I did when I ordered mine up front how much it would cost and my monthly payments where gonna be before I even seen the truck on the lot.
