I have officially required a need for bump stops after making contact with my frame a few weeks ago. I have OME medium leafs and roughly 300lbs in the bed when camping (rack, tent, tonneau) on OME nitrocharger shocks.

I was unaware aftermarket bump stops would also make a ride quality difference and I'm honestly still very confused how they do this. Could someone help me understand this?

What length/size bumps should I go with? Durobump offers them in various lengths, others in various stiffness.

In the $300ish range, I've found some contenders. Feel free to add more to the list. Durobump, Timbren, SumoSprings and Wheelers. At the moment, I'm leaning very heavily toward Durobump.

When i searched the site, i got very little results. If this thread becomes big enough, I'll update this post with info.

    Thanks dudes!

I believe the theory is that aftermarket bumps are typically longer and more progressive. So they hit earlier than factory bumps, but at the beginning it is softer and as they compress more they get firmer.
Factory bumps are shorter and just have one hardness, so when you hit them it’s more jarring. If all that makes sense.

I have read a lot of good things about the GM Bump stops, they are cheap and readily available at most stores. They are also progressive like the more expensive brands.

I’m with @Dank Donkeh Luvver ive got @Timbren-Industries bumpstops with a ubolt flip kit in the rear and oem in the front. The Timbrens have been great so far. I plan on upgrading the front in the near future.
This is not a great comparison pic as the oem are shown when I did my lift kit install and they’re not at the usually height. You can see the huge difference between them though.

I have the super bumps front and rear and I am a believer- They’ve greatly improved the ride by making the big hits a lot softer, no jarring at all when going over things. Totally worth the money

If you haven't already, I would definitely trim those u-bolt ends.

I really liked the wheeler super bumps, but they seem to have a reputation for deteriorating over time; I ran air bumps in the back and the super bumps in front, and that setup worked great for me. Have seen a lot of positive feedback around durobumps, but no personal experience. I did try timbren active offroad bumps before and didn't really care for them... they were still a big improvement over stock bumps, but instead of absorbing the impact smoothly, they kind of acted like a spring and caused a bounce effect. Not a big deal for the occasional bump, but hitting a rough forest road or some small whoops, it got old pretty fast.

I can attest to the Wheelers deteriorating. It only just started after 5-6ish years but they do have signs of cracking.

Yeah, no, I’ve not trimmed them yet and know I need too. I’ve not seen that they made contact to the frame but don’t really want to take the chance. I’ve been off-road, speed bumps/humps at 30mph and not seen any impact signs but still planning on cutting them.

All good info here and a couple using Timbren's which is awesome! They said it perfectly with how aftermarket bumps are larger and softer to lessen the hit when you start dipping in the rear. Ours are so durable we tried to destroy them and couldn't! You can check that out here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBEAoXh545U
Add in our lifetime warranty and now you're in business. We are always available to answer any questions you may have as well.
