What is everyone’s frame height at and do you run your tie rod above or below your steering arms. I’m currently running hellfire and tie rod above the steering arms with fj80 rod ends. 4”up travel frame height at 24”

I’m a first gen but 23-23.5 in frame height, 6.5 inches uptravel.

I used a high steer arm with a knuckle tie in to use the stock knuckle tie rod location and mounted below the arm. The draglink from the steering box is on top. Kingpin knuckles.

I just wanted to give a heads up on anyone doing a SAS...if you have someone else do the work for ya you better make sure they know what they are doing!! I bought my truck already built but whoever did the welding should have reinforced the frame where they welded the front tube on. Ripped the frame not the weld.20210606_153517.jpg 20210606_153456.jpg 20210606_153517.jpg 20210606_153456.jpg 20210606_153446.jpg 20210605_164301.jpg 20210604_135902.jpg

1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.
    That’s a very common issue

I wondered. There isn't much of a frame there anyway. What is the solution to the weak frame? Reinforcing? I am using C channel on both sides of the frame and running it back about 6"-8". Then welding it back in place. Should do the trick. Thoughts?

Need some measurements. The toyota 4 bolt to 2 bolt adapter for the one ton masters. What’s the thickness of the adapter and how long is the push rod.

But radius arms, should have just left it IFS rather than make a compromise with them…Says the internet

Nothing wrong with a radius arm as long as you work around the limitations. I have a friend with a radius arm suspension on his grand Cherokee and he pops one of the upper arms off before hitting the trail and it has flex for days. I have also seen people make wristed upper arms for them as well.

You are somewhat local to me, let me know if you need someone to ride with to shake that truck down!

I’m reaching the finish line. Still a bunch of stuff to do but I’ve cycled the suspension and just pulled the housing out and welded everything. 4ACF23FF-AD42-4841-94BF-CF60D2F705A2.jpg 3C793BD2-997C-42A8-BC26-9FC99CF81613.jpg

Put the tires on, charged the shocks, set the preload.

After having a couple 1 ton jeeps linked with C/O's, and 86' Turbo pickup SAS with built axle etc my new 2001 TRD 4x4 taco makes me want to Waggy 44 swap it vs spending money on the IFS. I'm sitting here looking at suspension kits being like why even bother but I know the SAS rabbit hole. Last rig was a JK on 40's with SD axles

Yep. Good IFS suspension isn't cheap either. And why chance breaking stuff when you're having fun. You only live once. Buy once, cry once and be done with it.

She’s a roller. Hell yeah. Now to take it apart and do a few more welds here and there and continue to knock out the misc. I’m going to drop it at Califabrication to hammer out the hydro assist, modify my crossmember center section to clear the front drive shaft and bend me up some rear shock towers. Might have them do a couple more odds and ends who knows. Shocks aren’t charged and no bumper or winch on yet. As it sits right now it’s frame at 23” in the front with 3” uptravel. Probably switching springs after i add the weight.
