The ToyTec BOSS Lift Thread

Negative they will not come with added pre-load on one coilover.

Most cases we have seen with the new aluma series is there really isn't a need to adjust more on DS vs PS as there is a 700lb spring rate on the coilover itself which in turn can help assist in holding the vehicle stable/ equal.

 

With no adjustments, I'm sitting at 21.25" / 21.50" from center-of-hub to bottom-of-overfender.
I was at 22.5" on my OME bits, so I just lowered my truck.

I guess I was expecting the Toytec to come with the pre-load like Elka says they do.

 

Interesting, thank you for that. I am going to bring this info to the uppers here and see if we can address that on coilovers here on out. I know we've based it on average of a stock weight Tacoma as previous gen BOSS Performance kits.

 

I do have extra weight up front, but it's the same weight I had on the Nitrochargers on OME 2886x coils:
US Offroad Hidden Winch Bumper
Synthetic line winch (Smittybilt)
BAMF skid trio
BAMF sliders (DCLB)

Now I just have to add more pre-load, and am hoping it's a smooth process on the truck.

On the Aluma series, how many spins equals an inch of lift?

 

After 38k on my boss coilovers. Had to replace them today. Went with aluma 2.0’s. Hopefully they’ll last longer! Did see about a half inch drop when installing these.

 

Got my Aluma 2.5 completed and SPC UC added. Love this system. Thank you TOYTEC

 

Was there an update to this situation? Mine sounds like the same deal with the jarring back end.

 

Does this provide more lift over a 2.5” 5100 lift on OEM Sport springs??

 

Another question, are you able to adjust while on the truck?

 

depends if your double cab, a v6 etc. yes if your get the aluminum top spacers too

id call toytec & ask really - that way you get a 100% answer

 

I have a 2020 Tacoma Off Road with 285/70 tires, an aftermarket bumper and winch. Due to the weight and to level it with my after market HD rear leafs I had to put a ton of preload into my BOSS 2.0 Aluma Series Front Coilovers. I got almost 3 inches of preload as it sits, way more than the max. I am curious what springs people recommend, as I understand I need to change out the springs to make this back within acceptable spec. I attached a photo of it as it sits currently. Thanks for any advice.

So I had a Toytec 2.0 BOSS kit with SPC UCA’s installed about 4 months ago on my truck. I’ve only put about 4K miles on the truck since installation, but it seems sometimes I notice a strange/different noise coming from the passenger side that I don’t hear coming from the driver side when going over large bumps/potholes… everything appears to be intact and functional. The truck itself only has 6k miles on it… it’s hard to describe the noise, almost like a bad ball joint type sound, like there’s some play somewhere…. Anyone have similar issues?

 

I believe they come with 700lb springs from toytec, right? I thought that was what I see a lot of guys using with numbers and weight in front.

 

So several years ago I purchased a Toytec Boss Coilover complete lift for my Tacoma. About a year ago and after 16k miles of use, all the oil leaked out of the Passenger side front shock. Needless to say the truck now ride terrible when the passenger side hits a bump or other road imperfections. So I call Toytec customer service and explain to David that i only need one shock to be replaced and i'm told that the shock I have has been discontinued and is no longer available and has been replaced with the Boss 2.0 for $999.00. After doing some research, I found out that Eibach actually made these shocks for Toytec. So I then call Eibach only to talk to a guy who transfers me to a different department and no one has answered or returned my messages. So do you folks know if Eibach still produces this Threaded shock and if so what is the part number. The Toytec shock part # is TTFSC-2005. As a note, I'm not interested in spending $999.00 on a new Boss front suspension as I don't plan on keeping this truck much longer, but i want it be fixed as I'm gonna sell it to a friend.

 

I could be wrong on the older ones, but I think all of the Toytec are made by Elka, not Eibach. Are the ones you have not rebuildable?

 

So I called Eibach today and they verified they did indeed make these shocks for Toytec lifts and they have been discontinued. And they are not Rebuildable shocks.

 

What's up all- been following TW for a while now but pretty sure this is my first post. I am a previous '18 Pro MT Cav Blue owner here soon to be '22 OR MT Lunar Rock owner. Unfortunately got into an accident that resulted in a total loss on the Pro but managed to walk away no injuries to myself or others- god bless Toyota. Definitely bummed to lose the Pro but excited for some of the convenience upgrades that have happened between '18 and '22 (Entune to CarPlay for starters).

This is my daily driver/weekend warrior ride. Use it to get to camp sites, trailheads (hike, bike, BC ski), occasional stream crossing, some off-roading if I am with a group, etc. I don't have any intentions of turning the '22 into an overland or off-road only rig. The extent of the work I am planning is a lift, ARB bumper (the deer are especially dumb in my area), Retrax tonneau, and some smaller mods.

Suspensions is always a preferential subject- for me I absolutely loved the Pro Fox suspension ride- great on road, absolutely rips washboards and loose rock roads, the faster you go the smoother it feels. I drive on washboard dirt roads for my work commute so comfort in this application is important. I am looking to more or less replicate the Pro Fox ride except in a 2.5"-3" lift package. I've heard solid things about Toytec but I haven't test drove myself for comparison. I am wondering if anyone in the crowd here has driven both and can provide feedback? Also worried about sag once the ARB goes on.

Had a pro. Traded for an OR and installed Toytec Aluma 2.0 with SPC UCA and 3AAL. If you loved the Pro suspension, you will be very happy with the Boss Aluma. To me the OR with Toytec is a much better ride. The best example I can give is driving on the highway with a crosswind. The Pro would get pushed around a bit in high winds. Even with 2+" of lift on my Aluma kit, no wind nudging at all. To me it is just as planted, but less harsh on pavement compared to the Fox Pro setup.

 

Does anyone have the Travel or Collapsed/Extended for the 2.0 rear shocks?
