I got pre-approval from my bank so I had an amount with payment amounts before going to the dealer. Some banks will give a sub prime rate, DCU gives you .5% off.
I wouldn't lease but it is a good solution for some.

Yea Tundras never really have any offers and there are no current offers available, and with the current amount of Tundra on lots I'm guessing there wont be any offers or incentives for awhile. I'm just thinking if I can just pony up a little more a month then i can just finance it and be done at the end

Well if i do lease the truck I would for sure buy it out at the end, which the buy out option is 28k, cant find that kind of truck thats 3.5 years old for 28k. But I know there are some down sides and after 3.5 years it could have been almost paid off. Which is why I'm trying to see the best way to go about the loan. AAA is offering 3.79% on 72mon and my bank is abiut the same.

I'm leasing right now, but through a business so depreciation is eaten at least. I would have straight bought, but I wasn't sure if I'd be happy with my Tundra long term, this is my first ever lease. I think I will buy out the truck, but might lease a smaller car in the future forever. If works as a business write off, and will keep me happy and able to switch cars alot. If I didn't have the business to take some of the pain away, I wouldn't though.

The two toyota dealers I went to to get my Tundra, BOTH finance managers lease and said they will never buy a car again. I think for people that switch every 2-3 years it can make some sense, otherwise no.

I think I'm mostly against leases because all that math confuses me and then I'm sure I'm getting screwed.

IMO, which isn't looked up to around here I know, inflation is over 5% OFFICIAL. Any rates below that is free money and inflation isn't supposed to be getting better. They have admitted this and the "transitory" is looking like Nixons 50 year plus temporary removal from the gold standard.

So I'd take any rates below 5% with a smile at this point. But maybe @GarlicFarts my new numbers guru has a take on that:thumbsup:

Yeah my wife would be a lease candidate but I'm good to drive the same thing and try to have no payments as long as possible. My wife's the one shopping for the next one while signing the papers on this one.

I usually get a rate from my local bank or credit union know what they will offer. If it either will meet or beat that rate, then I’ll finance through the dealer. When it comes time to sit with the finance guy, I’m very upfront about the rate I know I already have secured. That saves a lot of bullshit because he knows what he needs to beat.

So do you get pre-approval or just get their rates and base it off of that?

    Love the color!

Metro CU and Digital Federal CU both advertise their auto loan rates and terms. When I negotiated my current truck, my ok’d loan was with Digital Federal so I went in knowing their rate, I did not prequalify but I already had an auto loan in good standing so sort of assumed I could do it again. Rodman Ford found Metro CU and they beat out Digital Federal by half a

    https://www.dcu.org/borrow/vehicle-loans/auto-loans.html
might be worth talking to these guys, they’re advertising a rate as low as 1.49 %. They were easy to deal with also, I was trying to get some paperwork squared away and couldn’t get to their branch in time. They had an employee who lived in my town so she brought it to my house that evening, how cool is that?

I usually finance through the dealer and then immediately refinance with my credit union.

I believe so. It's a great motor with the 10 speed trans, tows really well and I get 21.5 highway unloaded.

I had a locker on my Tacoma, I used it once, to pull a boat out of a steep, soft sand launch. And I only did it to say I used it (would have been fine in 2WD to be honest). I had one on my Sierra as well and I never used that one once. I don't even know what a sway bar disconnect is...

When financing, it's best to have all YOUR stuff together when you walk in.
Let them pull your credit, and see if they can beat the interest rate, etc.
    Compare apples for apples.
Don't get sucked into "what payment are your comfortable with"

Also, be aware, if you do you own financing, they will whack you a fee, 500 or more, to do that paperwork, etc.

Yup! Depends on the cars, too. I know people in sales - company pays for the cars, and they just turn it in at the end. No fuss. I am not a fan of them, but they have their purpose.

    :drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

You get the same MPG as me with the 5.0? That's not good news to know for my wallet.

50/50 with you - Get a rate, etc. but if that means you can't afford the monthly payment, maybe need to rework some numbers or start again elsewhere. I hear Kia is getting good nowadays

At least play ball with the dealers. It doesn't hurt your credit to let them try if it's within 14 days of pulling for the banks. They want to make money and have the bandwidth to do so. Come in with your numbers, if they can beat it, who cares if you're interest is going to the big bank of Mr. Charles or the big bank of Mr. Southerland (made those up). All going to big banks. And, likely, actually still going to the same big bank anyway so who gives a rip.

I work for a Ford Tier 1, so I can get Ford X Plan. I brought it in when I was looking for trucks (rangers) and the sales guy, without blinking an eye when I put the numbers in front of him, said "yeah we can do that". ------ended up with a tacoma :bananadance:

Go to several. And online - check out Ally, Capital One, a lot of those "digital only" banks can do a lot of good.

Yep, that's hand calculated mpgs too, not just what the computer says. My 5.3L sierra was almost as good at 21mpg.

I just bought my ‘18 Tacoma 3yr lease out in May for $26k. They were practically giving them away a couple years ago. I couldn’t touch anything crew cab 4x4 that new with similar low miles in that price point. No local Toyota dealer would work with me because they all wanted to sell me new and flip the used truck. I had to go directly through BOA and the rate was comparable to local CU’s since I had “owned” the truck since brand new. I had leased for the last 5 years in 2 Tacomas and I would certainly do it again for something larger in the future. We only bought this one because, theoretically, it’ll last and hold its value fairly well. wife’s car is paid off and I’d like to pay this off before it’s time for her to replace her Venza with a 3 Row. I know that ain’t gonna be cheap.

I know this is going to illicit some loaded responses, but why is the there no Jeep/RAM shortage right now? I drove by Bonneville Dodge/Jeep/Ram yesterday and their lot is absolutely packed with all sorts of vehicles. But Londonderry Ford's lot is almost completely empty. Is Ram shipping their trucks without chips or something?
