Hello Guys! I have tried looking everywhere on the forums and can’t seem to find anyone with a similar problem. I have a 2021 Access Cab
V6 Rwd with 1600 miles. I’m getting a faint popping noise coming from the passenger side of the truck. It only happens when turning the truck. Only happens once which is the first turn of my drive. Truck is completely stock.

Sounds like soda cans in the back seat. You live in Texas?

Sorry. It was just an attempt to be funny. Another member on here out of Texas had a 12 pack start popping off in the back seat as he drove away.

If it’s popping at full steering lock while turning, it’s the steering stops. Go slather them in grease and enjoy the silence.

When I first drove my ex’s dads 82 Toyota pickup, the rack at full turn made some angry noises. I was like oh fack, my friend just reassured me “it’s a Toyota, they always do this”.

Wouldn’t say it’s at full lock. Usually makes the sound as i am driving off during the turn.

Mine 21 has made some clicks in the steering column, but it’s not consistent and I’m not able to replicate when it happens.

Can you check the CV boots for binding? Take photos of the following:
    - steering stops and contact points for us so we can see if there are witness marks
    - inner and outer CV boots.
    - driver and passenger side sway bar end links.
-driver and passenger outer tie rod ends

I suspect a bolt not torqued to spec.

I have the noise as well. I have had them look at it at the 5k, 10k and 15k maintenance, and also 2 different dealerships. I have had the shop foreman at both dealerships tell me they have never heard it on any other vehicles. They have checked torque on any and everything they could. Also checked CV boots. All they do is keep reminding me I have plenty of warranty left and saying in the future it will possibly get worse and reveal where its coming from. So far I have 16k on it and it still sounds the exact same as the first time it did it. All I can do is document it every time I take it in. Hopefully this thread draws some attention from someone who knows what is makin the noise. Everyone thinks it is odd how it only does it once when you first take off. Please update this thread if you get any info, I will do the same.

Only thing my steering column made was an annoying squeak in cold temps below freezing. Found the problem to be in the articulating section inside the cab.

I will also add that at both dealerships they gave me the old "cant reproduce problem" until I made them do a ride along. I told them it happens every single time I start the truck lol. After I showed them they are all just like wtf

Thats pretty typical of most dealers as they have only so much time to diagnose the issue in warranty. I was told the same by the toyota dealer in warranty on my 93 pickup when the engine was skipping around 2k rpm. Pissed i took it to my buddies shop where he found it was a faulty egr valve. I finally got toyota to replace it...no more skip.

I haven’t been able to find info anywhere and everyone i tell has no idea and finds it weird. I will update if I end up figuring it out. At least the noise doesn’t get worse from what you have said.

I wish it would get worse so we can figure out what it is while still under warranty. What bothers me is both shop foremen saying they had never heard this on any other vehicle.
