What is this part of the air filter system?

    RC 3" lift with 2" Wulf AAL. 285/70r17 Geolander MT, 17x9 Level 8 Gunmetal wheels.
    New Tacoma owner......trying to figure out what this filter is and where can I buy it besides at the dealer.

    Carbon filter for emissions.
    It’s not a replaceable parts.
    It’s a physical part of the air box.

    Some people have removed it buy drilling it out, with little to no performance effect.
    Most (including me) would advise to leave it in. Unless for some reason it is dirty or a stopped up.
    Which shouldn’t happen unless you ran no air filler or neglect to change you air for a long time.

    I can’t say I’ve ever heard of it causing any problems.

    Well that was boring...

    The part is actually a device which converts dust particles (only from certain areas of world) into a nitrous oxide like substance which is known to increase HP by 5-10%.
    But the other answer is probably close enough...

    Seen it at O’Reilly’s, why they put those on the same shelves as the Blinker Fluid is beyond me, everyone knows that’s dangerous if there’s a leak.
