Anyone in OC (socal) want to run the Fullerton loop in a couple weeks? Maybe the 29th? I’d prefer early morning.

Damn! Those do look sick! Check out my pen holder from when I worked in the moto industry many years ago. I’ll def have into look into those once I upgrade in bike.

@TacoDozer22 I got off my lazy butt and gave it a try. Works like a champ! There is a lot more clearance than the picture gives it credit for,

For what it is worth, I obsessed over getting the black powdercoat or the silver. I opted for silver because I feel like it will be more visible to vehicles behind me. Plus it was less expensive. I already have a few scratches on it just from moving it around so I am happy with the silver. Plus I read the black fades over time. It was a hard choice though! I think the black looks better but glad I got the silver.

I’m at 5’9” and my medium scout fits me but so would a large. If you go Ibis you need a large they run shorter than transitions. If you are selling the spur let me know

I've watched The Outsider MTB ride this trail a few time, it looks like fun. I'd roll, if I had any stamina/ conditioning.

FYI I had contacted 1UP to ask them about this black spacer. They confirmed as others did that this is optional and serves 2 purposes:
    1. Minimize rattling
    2. Security as it makes it harder to cut the hinge lock off.
They suggested if I wanted to I could use sandpaper to trim this down to get it to fit. I'd probably have to get it down to almost half the size but might give it a try this weekend, or look for a rubber spacer of some sort to use instead. Minor detail as I don't know how effective a deterrent it would be to someone who has a sawzall or similar.

Grip tape on my brake levers. Makes a bigger difference than I would have though for damn cheap.

Never ran their composite, but everything else I’ve had from them has been completely trouble free. Their alloy pedal has been the toughest I’ve used. Some people don’t like the bulge, but I’ve never felt it. I also ride slightly duck-footed, so that might be why.

    Wrapped or strip?

Seems counterintuitive but maybe fingers gripping is better. Thanks.

Planning on parking at the Monarch Crest lot in order to do Monarch Crest Trail. Any suggestions on an out and back loop or should I rely on a shuttle?

I have only done it twice but I would highly suggest a shuttle. A loop would be pretty gnarly. The road climb from Maysville to the Monarch Crest lot is like 11 miles and 3,000ft. That would be tough to do at the end of the day. Not to mention all this is occurring at 8,000ft + elevation. The trail tops out at nearly 12,000ft and your up around that for a while.

An out and back would be even gnarlier because its basically the same thing but on dirt/singletrack. That being said, a lot of the Monarch Crest trail is the Colorado Trail/Continental Divide trail so people do ride it "backwards" but I don't think many people do it as an out and back.

I suppose if that were truly your only option I would do one of:
    1. Just ride from the lot, along the ridge and then turn around before you start dropping down by Mount Ouray.
    2. Park at the bottom of Fooses (Near where the Colorado trail crosses Highway 50) then climb the highway to the Monarch Crest lot, ride the first part of the crest, then Descend Fooses back to your car.
    3. Park somewhere and hitch hike to start/end your ride.

Video like this makes me want to try carbon wheelset for no reason other than I haven’t yet, and the WAO seem stout. I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, WAO provides the carbon hoops for I9.

Would like to try CK, I9, Project321 and Onyx hubs also to see/feel difference.

WAO has the best value Carbon wheels by far. Big sell is being made in Canada.

I read where people were talking about lifetime warranties mean nothing if a company goes capoot and that was their reasoning for Santa Cruz being the biggest.
However WAO has contracts with I9 making their carbon rims. So I feel that won't happen.

The only two wheel composite companies I could find not made in Asia is WAO and Enve.
Maybe Ibis will bring their composite wheels over state side and build it alongside the Exie

Also if I wasn't getting married and her going to graduate/vet school I'd definitely order that "arrival" such a cool looking bike.

I have a set of we are ones with onyx hubs. Although not for every one, the zero noise is super nice. Also the rear hub does come with some extra weight compared to other options.
