Before/After New Rubber

Hi all. I had some 265/75/16s Cooper AT3 LTs installed to replace the factory 245/75/16s today after a long internal debate. I'm installing a 3.5 in RC coil over lift and 1.25" spacers this afternoon. Good thing with Discount Tire is that if they look too small I can "trade" them in for bigger ones for no additional fee (except the price difference of the tire). Here is the before and after. I'll post those pics too after the install.

For those who went from 265s to 285s, was there a drop in "performance"? I know these things are not made for speed, but I don't want to bog it down any more than it already is. I think the 285s are 12 pounds heavier each. I think the 265s will work fine, but still can't get rid of the want for 33s later on.

 

Other than looks, what is the benefit you've seen?

 

Honestly, looks. I have 265s on my '13 TRD OR and they do everything I want.

 

You will notice a difference in performance. Many people regear to help once going to that size.

 

Here it is with the lift. 3.5 in the front and 2 in the back. Liking it so far.

 

did the same thing with my factory 245's about 4 years ago and now have almost 50k on my AT3's with probably another 5 to go, will need new ones before hunting season up north.

 

Definitely interested in seeing more photos after spacers are installed.

 

Barely pokes out past the stock fender flare. I like it.

I definitely feel the loss of power with my 33s (285/75r16). You will loose some MPG, but you can live with 33s on stock gears. I commute ~90 miles a day on the highway and it is OK with me. It downshifts a lot on the highway. 33s do look perfect on a lifted Taco.
