Ok noob question. Do all the brokers let you set a trailing stop as a percentage or do you have to figure out the percentage yourself and put in an actual price as the stop?

 

I only wish I hadn’t lost so much to ctxr, I wouldve jumped in w both feet.

In Ally I haven't found an option to set trailing stops at all, whether in $ or %.

 

No posts here means @theesotericone closed his options at the opening dip and is sitting with his new tv remote in his mouth and his brains on the livingroom wall...

 

So for TD ameritrade you can only set trailing stops on options via the think or swim platform, the desktop application or the mobile app.
This is a trailing stop 0n a -$1.50


Here I select % (the Steps are really only for FOREX/Commodities/Currencies)



And this is a 5% trailing stop...Once you get things in the 100's or thousands of dollars for an option it's better IMO to go with a %....
