I have XPEL ultimate on pretty much the entire truck minus the top 2/3 of the doors and rear fenders. Couple spots where some debris hit the truck, XPEL took all the damage, no paint chip or dent. Though there is a bit of the film that was cut from the impact. One of the first things I did when I first got the truck. It's worth it in my opinion. Some will just say use a paint pen.

But the metal panels are where the chips will rust, a chip in the plastic won't progress! Why didn't you do the hood? I had the film done only on my hood for just that reason. My previous car was a '16 Subaru, which have incredibly weak and soft paint, and the hood looked like shit after only a year with no film. The hood chips got worse in time, the dings on the plastic parts never changed.

Another Albertan here and I say 100% worth it. My 09 has had it since new on all the leading edges and my paint still looks fantastic. The film hasn't yellowed either, now it has a few small spots where it's lifted along the front edge of the hood (two or three spots only dime sized) but that was after 10+ years.

Thinking about getting the XPEL as well, this week. (Also in Alberta) But I am worried about it going orange or yellow over time… I’ll likely do it, though, as the claim is that it won’t yellow, and I park in the shade primarily. I’m going to do full hood, back of mirrors, partial fenders, partial roof, and door cups. Got quoted about $750.

Well, at first Hello from Calgary, buddy!
My experience - recommend to apply 3m, for sure. Your quote is probably from hi-end shop and it's full 9 yards package.
at my point works really well - half of hood, consoles of front fenders, 1/4 of the roof above windshield, from windshield up and rear view mirrors bodies outside.
My price was around $650, now, in 3 years, with all Alberta conditions on the roads, (and off roads), harsh UV in the summer and cold snaps in the winters it still looking good
and serving well. I really recommend you to install it!

At least $2.5-3k to cover the entire truck, I’d think. I had a pretty extensive XPEL job done on my old BMW M2 and it was well over $1k for the entire front bumper, entire hood, half of the front fenders, A-pillars, and most of the rear bumper.

that’s where I just got my XPEL done. They did a good job and were pretty great to deal with.

Should be fine. It’s basically just like putting a sticker over a sticker. Might make the graphics look less matte and more shiny though.

The new materials used for clear bra are legit, especially if you take care of it. I would definitely do it right and do full coverage. The half hood is just so bothersome to look at
