    Auburn?

Alabama, LSU, and Georgia (that can’t get over the hump despite being right there) rule college football. If the SEC, not a few teams in the SEC, were as great as the homers feigned it to be, there like be more parity. It’s only a great conference for those making the TV money off of those few big programs, which is absolutely no different than any other conference.

Be like Maryland or Rutgers fans talking about B1G greatness while they’re absolute dog shit in both major sports.

How do you get Georgia? They haven't won a championship in over 30 years. They even lost in 2019 to UT in the Sugar Bowl. LSU is inconsistent. Maybe we should just leave it at Alabama.

Darnell Washington and Tykee Smith both hurt a foot and are out 3-4 weeks. Huge losses for the Clemson game. Tryin to stay optimistic here, but, damn.

No, just thought you were talking strictly SEC based on your context.

I'm more interested in what the remaining B12 schools do. I think their best strategy is to create the premiere basketball conference. They already return the National Champs from last year. Add Cinn, Memphis, and maybe Houston and you have a huge immediate upgrade over UT and OU. They have to keep KU and WVU in the league tho.

People lose sight of how this will impact other sports. Will OU quit their wrestling program? They were never really competitive anyway in the B12.

If the SEC forms their own league outside the NCAA with their own commissioner etc. are they basically out of basketball? Not that anyone would miss them in March outside of Kentucky which is still decent.

    It's gonna be really interesting.

Meaningless. It doesn’t renegotiate the ACC’s horrible grant of rights contract with ESPN, and it’s just a gentleman’s agreement.

If WVU doesn’t get invited into the ACC, I have a hard time seeing them staying in the B12 with a huge drop off in revenue when the contract changes. It would be cheaper on the athletic department to bus / charter locally in a lower revenue conference than pay huge fees to fly out west. Also, ESPN and others don’t release basketball numbers for a reason: it’d be too expensive. Basketball revenue means shit right now.

KU’s basketball program *should* get buried. This is non-negotiable unless you’re a KU homer or NCAA employee.

You are saying basketball is a $ loser for KU?

If football is all that matters, can the SEC kick out existing weaker members to bring in stronger programs that would bring in more $ that are on the outside looking in?

This is the football thread, but KU basketball is under investigation for multiple major violations.

I don’t see this happening either as they’ve had already done it if that was their motive.

I’m really interested to see the bluff of the alliance. It doesn’t renegotiate contracts, so enough to the NCAA, or make me care about PAC-12 football in any way.

The PAC-12, imho, is the most vulnerable. They’ve been left out of the dance for years, and their basketball draw isn’t good, either.

I found a breakdown of B12 sports revenues by team. While I wouldn't call the basketball revenue "shit", it's well below the football net revenue for every school. I was a little surprised to see UTs revenue was 2x second place OU. Easy to see why they were driving the bus.
