Called them. The least options I would want. They have (8) 4x4's.
They are stuck with is more like it. And are selling at MSRP.
Only an idiot would buy a 1-2 yr old Tacoma now, As they are as much as new ones.
    Its nuts out there.

I know what deal you're referring to at Boch, they had a new pro advertised for 43,xxx or something and when you inquire it was magically "just sold." I think they are advertising old inventory online to sucker in buyers, myself included for a day while i spoke with them. They have some 21's coming in, msrp unless you have the college rebate or military for your $500-750 off.

Attached a quote for a M/T trd pro with no options at msrp from them which applied to anyone in the 49 other states besides MA with an out of state delivery fee because MA doesn't offer in transit plates. MSRP, PLUS $529, DELIVERY $899 and applicable state tax and reg.

    bochprop..jpg

They sent me a few in transit vehicles coming in the next few weeks. But yeah, same boat up there as most dealers. If anything shop for the lowest dealer fee and call that the discount.

I'll bet you make a reasonable offer thats under msrp to them in person with cash in hand they will take it. I've dealt with car dealers in the past, believe me they have a weakness for cash.

(They cant sell you something they do not have)
The problem is I want a specific model. White SR5, 2wd, access cab, V6.
Does not sound like much. But there are few (If any) left out there.
What seems to be out there are white / base 4 cylinder SR's (steel wheel / gardener trucks) or loaded 4 door 4X4's. In dark colors. Many are black.
A few Sport's /OR's with options I don't want. Sonar, auto stopping brakes, Tech. packages, bed cover bla bla bla. .
So, the most popular are just not around.
And a few are charging MSRP, Most over. And you get to negotiate down to MSRP.
Thats just what's going on. Have been a cash buyer for over a month now.
And decided to just order a new one (2022) and wait 3 months.
Have come to terms that MSRP is OK in today's world, as am getting way more for 2 used cars than I thought possible.
And I have the money. Just Hate getting screwed. But realize, in this market MSRP is an OK deal.
In a year or 2, will probably be a different story. Who knows.

I also called on a few Advertised a state or 2 from me. That magically sold over night.

Bought 2 new trucks from Longo Toyota. Largest Toyota dealer in the world.
Both well under MSRP. One in 1985 and one in 1995 (WITH THE HUGE IMPORT TAX OF 1995). They do not sell over MSRP. Never have. But the selection of 2021's is as mentioned above. Lousy. So we can pretend things are as they used to be. Or admit the shit show in front of us is real.

Are you like 75 or something? This isn't the 1980's You do realize dealers make money financing, and selling little items they can build into your monthly # people don't think twice about for. In the past yes having a nice Down payment made a world of difference, just not in this current market until it rides itself out.

What makes them more money - someone who thinks cash is king and brings just enough to leave the dealer in their vehicle or someone who finances plus added accessories and warranty on the back end because it means next to nothing additionally per month for them.

You got herb chambers in boston where i bought my tacoma. They have a bunch also...many are 2wd though. Theres a few other area dealers with at least a dozen or more. I don't think any are selling for over msrp. They do not want to be stuck with these 2021 trucks when the 2022's come in in a month or two.

Not to mention having to count out the cash and having to fill out an irs 8300 form for cash purchases of over 10k.

It would have to be a certified check from the bank then as most dealers won't take checks or credit cards over a certain amount. The finance dept. has to do the paperwork, but doesn't usually get a cut on those types of deals.

I remember customers who would charge the down payment on their credit card and then finance the rest.

Ok, I am 60. Old AF. And am a cash buyer. But I realize, cash has no advantage in the current market.
Some folks are simply not paying attention. Thats obvious. And explaining anything to them is a waste of time.
They enjoy reminiscing in the past. And pretending they are still there. Living in a world 20-30 yrs ago.
My 1st new Toyota truck purchase was in 1985. But I realize, I am no longer living in 1985.

Side note: These days, most folks could care less what the MSRP is.
All they want to know is " How much is my monthly payment"
Quite different than 30-40 yrs ago.

Not really. They make money on interest. They want you to finance through Toyota. Best bet - play the game, don't mention how you're paying at all until you get your price locked in and they give you a final bottom line. Got cash? Great, leverage that, work down the bottom line even more and take out a 72 month loan, then pay it off your first month. Telling them you're paying cash is going to cut the negotiations short - and not in your favor. This isn't even new - it's been this way for at least a decade.
Spot on. Hope you find the truck you're looking for.

I hear you, it will go back to this type of supply and demand hopefully soon within the end of next year. Personally just not worth the effort shopping 10+ dealers to save next to nothing, let alone spending the the time phone calling and then showing up in person to look and try to buy an incoming truck or less desirable optioned one available. I think the dealers are just as tired of people calling for discounts or for trucks that don't exist as they are not having cars and losing sales to the dealer 20 miles away who had the cars coming in.

Its always better to be out there than not at all, but getting the right deal does feel nice given the circumstances, in which msrp is the right deal and is getting you out there.

Used vehicles are up ~20%. You’re going to spend more no matter what you buy.
