Any way to relieve the stress the AC puts on the engine?

If it’s putting that much stress on the engine, something is wrong.
    Is your compressor working properly?

It shouldn’t have any real noticeable effect on engine load.
Modern compressors don’t tax the engine like they did years ago.

Not sure what your asking here?
There's no way to take the load that the A/C compressor puts on the engine away other than not use it.

    Remove the AC.

No more stress. On the engine. Just the occupants.

Not really sure what stress you think there is?

    No.

    Unless you go this route:

If you want to really check the stress it is putting on the engine, get yourself a bluetooth OBDII reader and watch the real time numbers. I think you'll see it is not as bad as you think. You can get everything you need for around $30.00. If your cooling system is working okay, you should be fine. Your alternator is very similar impact.

No, not really other than not using it.
It shouldn't really affect fuel mileage more than maybe 1 mpg.

Nope. Ac requires energy to run, and that is provided by the engine. Only thing you can do is just not use it.

modern ac is pretty efficient though.

    Dirt, miles, and wear.
The AC compressor isn't powered by electricity. Its clutch is, but that's not a big power draw. Each amp of power at 12 volts only represents 12 watts. One horsepower is 746.

That compressor is driven mechanically by the engine. The only way to eliminate that load is to not use the AC. That said, the effect on fuel economy should be a fraction of an mpg. Maybe not even measurable to most drivers. It's not measurable to me and I've tracked fuel economy with my truck for ~50,000mi now.

A rtt i never use and 30 light bars
stupid question but ima ask it, why do i need to push ac button if the ac is already on, if i depress it the ac is still on….whats the freakin point. And yes you put more load cus its runnin off the belt to the engine, also at idle red lights itll kick on making you lose 1-2mpg’s. is it worth it? for me it is.

gas mileage is not affected as much as the power hit, but all these Toyota trucks suffer the same odd hit. That's the main reason I never use it unless it's 80/80+ outside

Living in an area with many many hills you tend to notice the struggles of the truck :D

The AC button engages the magnetic clutch and then the belt actually spins the compressor. That pulley is freespinning with little to no resistance otherwise.

I've got 415,000 trouble miles on my '96 Tacoma and original AC and 2.7 engine both still work GREAT. Why on earth would would there be a need to relief stress the AC puts on the engine?
