No, I completely understand. I just drove back to LA from Yellowstone and was basically In S-4, 95% of the time. 5.29s it is. Should make it easier to save up for this thing too.

ECT causes the torque convertor to "lock-up" much much earlier than normal. The downside is it also prevents the coasting or freewheel effect when you are decelerating since it is causing some engine braking. With the supercharger the effect is instant response from the engine especially when paired with the increased RPM's from the adjusted shift points.

I'm 5000 miles in and I finally had a full tank of just normal driving to work and back at speeds up to 60mph for a few short sections with no long freeway stretches or towing or both like most of the time I take the truck. The only mods are 255/85/16s and rock sliders and the tank averaged 18.64mpg.

Has anyone felt a jerk when letting the gas pedal? I felt it a few times today in traffic. Magnuson has to bring a better tune version I don’t really like all this gear hunting and jerking.

I went ahead and just bought the intake, determined to make it work if needed. I did have to make a few modifications to make it fit, but seems to be working thus far.

Been really enjoying the Supercharger. I would highly recommend it to those thinking about it. Best decision I ever made. Adding exhaust, intake and coil packs have made a huge difference. It's like a totally different truck.

4.88 are next on the list.

What other mods are you guys doing, that you really enjoy?

1st gen - it's got a built engine, a turbo, and waaaaaaay too much to list. 3rd gen - basic-bitch lift, S/C, Pro Wheels
Welp, even after adjusting the coolant level mine still started to vent again. Already submitted the warranty request through Magnuson.

Thought I’d help with anyone who wants to upgrade their intake to the TRD “CAI” version for use with their supercharger without buying an entire ~$400 kit… tubes, boots, etc that you won’t need and can’t use. Since the Magnuson kit only works with factory intakes, and since the TRD Pro kit is the best available now, I compiled a parts list of what you’ll need:

    Upper Air Box: PTR03-35160-AA ($116)

    Intake Flow Accelerator: PTR03-35160-AE ($25)

    TRD Air Filter: PTR03-34140 ($53)

Everything else in the full kit… don’t need it!

must have sent you an old version in May - I got V7 in January. We are all waiting on V8 which Ryan said would be a few months out for release back in May. Still waiting. Hoping they fix the AT shifting logic and rev hang on take off from rolling stop.

Been lurking on this thread, does the SC make a notable difference in power or are you guys still left wanting more?

Sigh. Still waiting on some back orders from May. The biggest culprit are the 5.29’s and since I tow my travel trailer on and off, I don’t want to make a sometimes miserable tow on grades worse with only the lift and tires:

    6112 & 5160
    RXT
    Front Locker
    Nitro 5.29
    285/55/16 Coopers
Magneson (just ordered a couple weeks ago)

Same here. Back in April when I was tossing around the idea of trading the taco in on a $75K 2500/3500, I figured I’d toss $10 or $12k at the taco first which I really like anyway.

It is a noticeable increase in power but does less for the bottom end than I was hoping. The one time I had the truck down close to sea level it was very impressive, at 6000'+ where I live and tow it is far better than stock but not as fun.

Just lock it to S 4 and all will be find when towing - upshift to s 5 when on the flats and back go s 4 when climbing. Plenty of power in S4 and 3K plus rpm.. Pretty much same set-up as you but 4.88.s. My camper is about 3k in weight.

Yea that’s how I tow but it’s a pain in the ass here in the SW grades.

come to Colorado and you will know what towing is - just went over 12129 ft pass two weeks ago - no problem and general towing elevation over 8000 ft. I've been all over Nevada - some very nice roads and passes. The SC will make you satisfied for power - 3500 rpm in S4 makes it feel like a V8 with plenty of power to come if you put the pedal to the mat.

Looking forward to it. Even not towing the best way I describe the truck is that sometimes it feels like I have two large chutes tied to the rear bumper.

I have decided to bite the bullet and give it a shot. Does anyone have a hook up on the magnuson kit or work at a shop who has one in stock/ready to ship? Hook up this poor veteran who saved up all his beer money.
