Both of the screw studs are inside on the DC cab. It would have to be a lot of torque to crack the entire assembly. I stll think it's the gasket and the contour of the cab.

    sometimes :D

mine had the factory bolts that secure it broken and and it was left like that so for me it just a matter of time. I'm honestly shocked it took a few yrs. for the leaking to happen.

Both bolts were broken and just held on by the gasket?

In my case, it was a cracked housing for the bolt. I should have taken a pic but forgot. The bolt is held in place with some plastic and I suspect it was over torqued and cracked it. Over time, being loose, it slowly separated from the cab and started to leak.

The design doesn't inspire confidence and it's easy to see how over torquing could have contributed to the issue. Maybe I'll add epoxy to the new one just to over think it.

It's not the assembly itself that cracks, although maybe some did, but the bolts break loose as they are held in place with cheap plastic. Being loose, it separates from the cab and then leaks.

Good info, I learn something new every day. It would take a lot to crack the brake light. It's a big tough piece of plastic, I even hammered on it and it didn't "break apart".

yeah man that's some tough material. I assumed the light was installed by robotics, the 1 bolt was mangled, they said it's the 1st they saw like that.

that was my though when I saw it and why I figured robotics and it just cranked that f'd up bolt until it couldn't any more. Until we had super hard down pours that just didn't seem like they'd stop, it was never an issue. The crazy part was I bought rtv seal to fix it myself and the morning I was going out to do it was when I woke to the down pour and after seeing that, I took it to the dealer for a proper fix that they'd be liable for.
