Pretty much the phone has to be charging if you want to use CarPlay

 

Depending on how long the ride is I guess, but it does drain it quickly

 

What is it like when it's complete darkness, and complete darkness with reverse lights?

In my yard I backup in complete darkness.

Can it be used without the phone?

 

Carplay??? Not to my knowledge.

 

Your knowledge is more than what I know about this stuff.

 

I have a 15-20 minute commute, and don't worry about that. I can drive ~2 hours up to Maine, NH etc and be okay, but not expect to have it topped up when I get there. Whereas if I was using bluetooth for music I would probably be fine all the way up and back.

It's even worse when you use sat nav, if it's just music it's not terrible.

It's just an interface between the phone and vehicle, without the phone there's no reason for it.





Rick - I will take a few pulls from my dash cam tonight if I can remember. It was rainy this morning so I want to check it out how it does when the back glass is covered in droplets, from the mini screen it didn't look good this morning. Just curious about it.

I don't know why I keep thinking that CarPlay is a feature, touch the screen to activate.

Keep forgetting it's a interface. I need to keep up with modern times.

The only reason I know is because I have it, and my work uses iphones. Otherwise I would be sitting with a 10 year old android phone, happy as a clam.

Saw that. Going to be interesting. But I assume part of it is also working on the next generations. I'm sure they're doing it across the board, but probably working on the next gen tundra production line now too.

 

Debating, I don't know what the next generation Taco is going to look like.

propeietary BS. They gave the EU the middle finger when they standardized micro usb for all phones to eliminate e waste. And app devs need to pay to build apps for their platform. And they’re overpriced shenanigans.

 

Your dislikes are from a technical aspect. Don't have to worried about this. I have to learn how to use a smartphone.

I'm debating on what smartphone I should get.

 

Samsung now does the same waste crap by not giving you a charging block blah blah blah. But they charge you the exact same price for the phone even though you don’t get the same components with it, but then have to go get a charging block. Waste what bullshit.

 

just get the first one that works. They’re all the same nowadays. If you have an Apple computer I will say the Apple integration is better than android/windows etc. but if you don’t have an Apple computer than just throw a dart.

opposite. Apple flagrantly gave the EU the middle finger, adding e waste so they can continue to use their proprietary connectors and make more money. They probably decided the fine was less than the profits so F you Europe.

That is one of my biggest sticking points. But work pays for it and I’m not that much of a high horse.
