These are what I got with the vortex load bars and the low-profile RTS tracks that mount in the factory roof ditches.

Yeah, that’s probably what I should have gone with. The “additional drilled and riveted” install requirements scared me off. But it would be really nice to be able to move bars and accessories from the tonneau track to the roof track. Also really like how easy it is to remove the bars entirely, as well as how open the roof remains relative to the Prinsu type racks.

So how was the drilling and riveting? Find any install videos on that?

It was fine. A little nerve-wracking, admittedly, but I’m pretty handy and skilled with a drill so I didn’t leave anything to chance. I used a drill-stop to set the depth and a new drill bit etc, and just took my time. They give you good quality butyl rubber sealant pads for under the rivets, and I top coated the rivets with sika-flex, just because I’m kinda OCD about having my roof ever leak.

The thing is, Toyota just used stickers to seal the holes on the existing roof fasteners, so what you do with the rhino rack is better than that.

The good thing about it being riveted, is it does not vibrate. It’s rock solid. If it ever needs removal, the rivets could always be drilled out fairly easily. I dunno. I really liked how low-profile it is, so I took a chance and am happy with the result. I figure if Rhino Rack was ruining people’s trucks they would have gone out of business long ago.

Here are the instructions for the RTS547 Ditch Rails:

Installed the @CaliRaisedLed hidden light bar and the Tacoma Pros Bussmann relay box yesterday. The relay box took way longer than expected mainly due to figuring out where to mount the solenoid so the box is ignition triggered.

Where did you guys mount the solenoid?

Mine is a work in progress but i added a TRD lift (bilstein shocks, pro grill, 2" front 1" back) and some predator lights this weekend to my 2021 SR5.

Next on the to do list is new tires, wheels, and LED headlights.

DIY grille upgrade. I’ve always liked the Toyota emblem better than just the word on the pro grilles but wanted a different color combo.

It is a Century “Ultra”. The most durable fibreglass canopy for the money IMHO. No nonsense, just functional. We use them on our fleet of work trucks because they have framed windows (not flush), with gutters, which we have found to be leak-free in the long-haul.

Mine has some extra features and is carpeted (to prevent condensation), has the removable single-piece front window for cleaning, and has single-piece windoors as well as Thule roof rails. It specifically has no sliding windows, no fold-out windows, and no mesh screens, as those typical break, leak, or get torn.

Working out of trucks with canopies for at least 20 years on the rainy west coast, I’ve developed strong opinions about canopies and what lasts and what doesn’t. These caps have been great.

    rant over. ;)

Swapped out the wheels for some motegi MR150’s. Picked up a tent local for a STEAL. Wanted a hard shell but I couldn’t pass this up. Thinking about 285’s…

I felt I settled on the color initially, but the silver has really grown on me.
