I don't know if any song would matter much to me... I tried to give that thought when my brother asked that question years ago..

Probably 80% of northern CA is dried brown "grass", pretty much everything that isn't asphalt or concreted over..... It's a really bad catch-22 scenario.

If we have enough rain in the winters to even sort-of fill all the reservoirs and get us through the year, then so damn much grass/weeds/underbrush grows in the spring, and then turns to mega fire fuel by summer, which then makes fire season so much worse. But, if we didn't get much rain in the winter, the vegetation would be less, but then we all end up in extreme drought conditions, and less water to fight the fires when then happen. And there will ALWAYS be summer fires in CA......

Our "rainy" season is from late November -> March. That's it, only a very few months. And when it does rain, it rains maybe .1 -> .5 inches in a 24 hour period, and rarely more than maybe 2 days in a row. The official average rainfall for northern CA is around 18" per year, but it has been a long time since we had more than 12" - 13" in a year.
