Good point, not something I thought of. When I changed the plugs at 166k the plugs I removed were definitely the originals. So only about 2k miles of improperly torqued plugs. Not sure if that's enough to gum anything up but I guess it's possible.

166k on the factory installed plugs, I guess there is something good to say for that. No grease monkeys have been in there to cross thread them.

Where did you order the plugs? Supposedly Amazon is prone to selling fake Densos and NGK’s.

They could of been fake name brand ones. I get the coppers from the dealer.

Perhaps. I’ve had no issues with the truck today and I can definitely feel that it’s running smoother. Maybe I got lucky…this time.

No kidding…fingers crossed. Throw a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. Chevron with Techron and Gumout Regan is pretty good.

Haha I have a bottle of Techron sitting in my back seat for my next fill up. Great minds!

Really? Never had an issue with the Densos I've ordered. They appeared to be real in terms of branding and packing.

The NGK's I ordered seemed pretty real to me too. I don't think they were fakes.

Still no issues since I changed the plugs. Knock on wood.

She’s dead again. Same quick gas station trip as before. Came out of the store and it wouldn’t start.

Fuel pump change coming I suppose.

I figured it was the fuel pump. Stick with oem parts.

Already ordered. OEM for the win.

I was in denial but knew this was going to have to happen. Haha.

How long has that k&n air filter been in? I was a believer in them until it destroyed a couple maf sensors.

    3000 miles or so.

Truck starts with starter fluid, dies 30 seconds later. It’s definitely a fuel issue.

Sounds correct. Your certain there's no error codes, not just no check engine light?

I am not certain, no. I have not had it scanned since it was running great for those several days after changing the plugs.

I don't want to drive it anywhere else or pay for a tow until I rule out the fuel pump. Like others have said, with the mileage I don't mind throwing money at a fresh, clean fuel pump even if it doesn't the problem.

Got a new fuel pump into the truck today. It wouldn’t fire right away after the install so I gave it a kick in the butt with starter fluid and it fired up. Drove it up to the gas station, put a bottle of Techron into the tank, filled it up, and it won’t start again. Not even with the help of starter fluid this time. Starter fluid almost gets it to fire, but it quickly rumbles down until it dies.

I’ll post a video later of what it’s doing. Currently waiting on a tow truck. I might have to submit to a mechanic.
