yeah it sucks, I don't even like doing it with my AP skid even though it's probably 20lbs lighter. Partly why I just left it off after last time lol.

Well, that and I have that damn leaky axle seal that kept getting all over it

I think the primary argument against Fumoto valves are them getting knocked open on the trail, but I don't think that's very likely especially in our area. Maybe out east where there are a lot more woods/sticks to drive over. Plus the skid protects it pretty well

FWIW the inline fluid filter made mine whine too, I think it's too much restriction in itself. The pump did not last long with the filter and a big cooler.

I removed the filter when I changed the pump and it's lived over a year this time

Is yours twisted/bent at all? Mine got a little twisted cockeyed toward the back, but still mounted fine and looks like it mounted to his T4R well too.

I know some guys weld in gussets to them to help prevent it from bending like that

as a simple hydraulic system our steering systems aren't really that picky. The worst thing for it is to be low on fluid. You could run plain mineral oil if you wanted to and it was spec for a long time before ATF (I've even used 5W30 motor oil in a pinch). I'm running bulk ISO 32 tractor hydraulic fluid in the crawler and it does fine.

ATF is spec'd because it's got good temperature resistance but aside from the antifoaming additive the others aren't really necessary in a steering system..

They'll always advise to use aftermarket UCA's, even Fox, Icon, King, and ADS do.

I am running stock UCA's, but I'm also running King Ext. coilovers and have no issues with contact, nor achieving proper alignment. With that being said, I have no concerns running IMS front and rear the way I am.

I've been wondering mainly about their quality, the way they'll feel, and if they're easily rebuildable the same way other coilovers can be rebuilt.

Harley is about as dog-like as a cat can get, unless you're allergic then he's still very much a cat

Shoot guess I’ll take it off when I put the new rack in. They always advertise as “non restrictive” and stuff.

I’ll likely switch over to a drain and fill of the reservoir every oil change. Finally got a fluid pump that makes that easier.

ha! I've had to use 10w30 motor oil one time when I was about 15 years old with an old car and a leaking PS hose. Cleaned it out and it worked ok afterward.
