I picked up the cookbook that goes with the Netflix series - quite like it:

Looks pretty good, I like the idea of having a show to follow along with as well.

They don’t really correlate to each other, they just cover the same ideas

Well maybe not word for word but I’m sure there are ideas or principles that cross over.

I enjoyed it. The plot was great and history and architecture references were fascinating. Follette gets a little creepy for me when it came to the sexually explicit parts. I'm no prude but he really likes to put his fetishes out there.

Both Non-fiction but very good... the radar one is a little dense.

For those that enjoy history I recommend David McCullough. I've read Undaunted Courage (Meriwether Lewis and Thomas Jefferson), John Adams, and Citizen Soldiers (WWII), and am now reading Truman. Undaunted Courage was probably my favorite and then John Adams.

I would also recommend Killers of the Flower Moon before the Scorsese film is released. They're filming it now here in OK. Fascinating book about the Osage Indian murders and the beginning of the FBI.

Listened to this one a while back, really enjoyed it. The audiobook format is very conducive to the story.

Its a litRPG (game elements in a novel) with the concept of Earth is a simulation created by a superior alien race to enslave the human populace into thinking that reality is a game so that they'll fight their wars for them with reckless abandon and also provide them with entertainment as they stream it. MC is basically NEO and figures this out and gets help from one of the aliens in order to save the human race from their fate.

    Synopsis of book 1:
"From Book 1: Austin just wanted to build.

Build a house, craft some blades, maybe pound out some armor and go on an adventure.

    He wanted to escape.

He made it to the top. As CEO of an asteroid mining company, Austin has accomplished everything he ever wanted in business. Fame and fortune were his, but he missed working with his hands, adventuring to lands unknown. Doing new things, making friends based on mutual interests instead of financial ones.

Emerilia answered him, beckoned to him, a retreat from the world. A fantasy game where you could do anything you could on Earth, and so much more.

Austin the CEO is Reborn as Dave the half-dwarf. Just another player. Little to his name than the clothes on his back and determination in his heart.

    He’s going to need it.

Because Earth, Emerilia and history are not as he knows it. Here, the game is real and Earth, just a simulation away.

He’s going to need allies, player and non-player alike.

Even if its true, how can you convince people they’re slaves to the game they play?

Any sufficiently advanced virtual reality makes it indistinguishable from reality.

Dave will need to level up, increase his skills and learn Emerilia’s true past."
