I did because I messed up the first set and went to Napa the actual shaft diameter and spline count are different. Luckily I found some used oem axles for $50 same day. Inners or outers that are aftermarket will not work.

I wonder how possible it is to go 930 outers? Obviously we would either need to find a stub that works, or have them made. But honestly, sometimes its not all that expensive to have that kind of stuff machined with enough being made each run. I would pay a good bit extra to make that outer stronger, because that has been my failure on 2 shafts now.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
It's been discussed but with 934 inner/outer. It's a lot of work and money to make it happen. Makes it absolutely bomb proof, easy repair and carrying one type of spare.

You have to eliminate the Toyota unit bearing which means moving to a custom spindle. I can easily do them they will just be very expensive... trust me, we have heavily looked into it and I doubt anyone would be willing to fork up the dough.

What about the possibility of just a different hub that works with the toyota bearing? I know DSS does lots of supra stuff with 930's and they just supply a different hub that presses into the factory bearing. I understand at some point you have to factor in the weak bearing, but to be honest it doesn't bother me personally a whole lot to change a bearing or other wear parts.

I've heard rumors silverado 33 spline hubs will accept micro stubs. However I have not confirmed this personally.

At that point you could just do a Dana 44 and not have press bearings anymore

I don't disagree, but I gotta say. I have not had any bearing issues whatsoever. Maybe its my driving style, I guess I don't know. Maybe I'm just lucky. I just cant see fixing whats not broke at this point. And I can definitely say the factory outer is a weak link.

A 930 isn’t stronger than the Toyota outer so it would be a total waste, you need to go 934 for the strength and it won’t fit in the factory spindle... again we have tried

That doesn’t make any sense as you would have to run a u joint on the axle or make custom stub shafts that would cost and actual fortune

It works. Some of you guys are shelling out nearly as much for custom cv’s so cost doesn’t affect the setup. May not be your cup of tea - no problem. I’m D44 and D60 so I can get parts almost anywhere and unfortunately my 7.5 front diff is the limiting strength in the front so I don’t really worry about having to replace a shaft - not that you’d be able to any quicker. Remember this is coming from the fabbed spindle suggestion. You’re free to do whatever you want so a lot of options are possible. Spending too much time in this thread isn’t good for me - too tempting to put a lt kit and sua on my reg cab.

It’s anodized. Didn’t realize they would be when I ordered them. A nice touch since I was gonna steel-it anyways
