Do you know exactly which ones these are? I am looking at the 2200lb ones with the 4 inch lift with extended hubs for wider tires. These:

So it looks to me like you reinforced your frame more like this. That right?

I did, it helped square everything up and gave me a really solid point to connect the suspension.
It probably wasn't necessary for me to use 1/4" steel but the price difference between that and 1/8" wasn't that much at the time.
The angle iron was helpful also because of 4" size and was already square.

The primary advantage, just like repositionable axles on a tractor-trailer combo, is the ability to adjust tongue weight depending on load. Not really necessary in the long run, but without scales that can weigh this thing, I figured it might be useful for setting up the axles in the ideal location once the build is complete.

I see where your coming from, in that case maybe build everything first then put the axles in desired location.
It will be less work, money, time, and weight.
But it is your call, if it's doable it would be pretty neat to have:thumbsup:

But in all honesty, yes it would be "neat to have" but how many times would you really use it for that purpose? The more complicated you make it, the more that can go wrong when you might be on the trails. Just my 2 cents...

Ditching the idea of reinforcing the frame with plates and I'm going to go with the cross-tube instead. I can bolt the sides of the suspension to the frame rails and connect them with a 2"x2" cross-tube for stiffness.

That's the route I believe I am taking as well. I have to get the 2x3 though. If you need, I have a bunch of 2x2 the you can use....

Glad you found our video! Cross tube is an excellent idea and just adds that extra beefiness as well.

@Timbren-Industries , I will be using the ASR35HDS02 3500lb axles. Do you recommend a thickness for the 2x3 steel bar between them?

Well...I even found a guy who created a 1:1 3D CAD drawing of the Timbrens. Gonna have to scale and print those off to add to my model.

@Timbren-Industries , for the 3500lb HD axleless timbrens, what thickness should I buy for the 2x3 steel? 1/8? 1/4? What is standard and what is the minimum thickness you recommend?

I did both for securing the box of the trailer and for the stiffness.
After all my trailer was built in 52'
