2020 Tacoma OEM LED Headlight Megathread

Yeah, I really like them.
I haven’t had a lot of experience with other Toyota OEM places but they have always done great, customer service, price, fast shipping, non broken parts. I’ve gotten headlights, taillights for multiple vehicles, trim parts, coolant, dash cluster, and a few other things I can’t remember but always been great.

 

As I said earlier, I HATE FedEx! Went to install my headlights today… found a broken tab. Thought long and hard about sending it back but it appears to some purpose for this tab is for the grille to be secured to headlight via a plastic snap. I think a good JB weld hold will be more than ample for that.

went with jb plastic weld and it cured awesome! It was a clean break so it fit back well, coated front and back in the jb weld and manually held it on with firm pressure for the set time. Let it cure while I was tearing front end apart and put that light in last. By the time I put it in it was set firm and hard as a rock. No play in the tab whatsoever and I think it’s going to be plenty strong for it’s purpose. That tab is the one that holds the grill to the headlight via a push pin.

 

For those of you that don’t have these headlights, the picture below doesn’t do even a fraction of the justice to the brightness of the DRL’s. They are brighter than the other OEM halogen headlights. However, for some reason, iPhone cameras and LED lights don’t get along.

So the scratches I made installing that driver's side assembly annoyed me too much lol. I ordered another and sold the scratched one on offerup for a hefty loss. The one I ordered after the scratched headlight came with broken slider tab, so I had to order another. I can't believe I've had 4 driver's side headlight assemblies in a month...

When I had the offerup listing up, there were two of you from here that messaged me if I was the guy on TW that scratched the lights LMFAO.

Also a warning oempartsource has still not given me a refund after sending it back (fedex tracking shows delivered). Last communication I got from them was the return label on 7/27. They have not replied to emails or answered phone since. I might have to give the credit card company a call soon. Checking their BBB page, seems like normal practice.

Surprisingly this one had no extra packing material, and survived the shipping.

 

How much did you sell the scratched one for? I would love a spare for the bench if anyone else wants to do the same down the road. Totally a-ok on any broken tabs too.

 

Sold for $330, guy drove up from San Diego to West Covina to pick it up. He had a little accident that busted his driver's side headlight.

Another guy asked me which harness I used. Told him I have Mike's, but recommended yours. Said he was already planning on using yours haha, your famous!

 

If you have his info would you pass mine to him or his to me? I’d love to get his old light if it’s LED and he still has it. Busted and cheap would be awesome for me.

 

Even if it doesn't turn on anymore?

if it’s totally destroyed then I’m betting he tossed it but if it works enough to know that the signal is good that suits my needs to have a bench test validation of harnesses.

 

What do you all think about the second version of the TRD PRO tail lights? The description on BAM wholesale say they come with LED lights, is this true? On Ebay dealer say they come with light bulbs.

My tail lights have the chrome strip, imo they look okay on other color Tacomas, but don't like em on the silver sky metallic.

dude. I’m sorry, I like my money more. I did something similar to mine. It slipped in my hand and dropped a bit. Gonna be honest, until you just mentioned this, I completely forgot about it. You can get something similar tomorrow driving the truck. No one would notice but you.

I got got a fantastic speech by a body guy when my cobra got hit. He legit told me no one would notice but me. He pulled the dent, told me how to touch up scratch. Next owner never noticed it for years
