    I have one

It's brighter than I need but it's easy to mount, easy to use, easy to recharge, and bombproof

Anyone played with the .22LR conversion kits for HK G3s? Was looking at the German surplus ones that were floating around.

    Yes, it could be ammo.

Get a box of every type of ammo you can find, and shoot. You will be amazed at the difference.

It's a little heavy but not bad at all. A little lighter than my stock AR.

Can't say I blame them. With all the allegations against the NRA, the bankruptcy attempts, embezzlement, etc. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. Then again, the uptick in Covid could have given them the non-political excuse they needed to start distancing themselves.

Agreed. I think it's a combination of the current litigious status of the NRA, COVID travel restrictions, and folks not wanting to give up their extended weekend for a convention. The show is usually held in late April but was rescheduled twice due to COVID concerns.

And honestly- I think the NSSF, FPC and other, smaller orgs are carrying the torch for actual pro-2A legal cases these days.

This is true. The NRA is busy fighting for its existence.

This would have been my 25th year attending the meetings, but I think I am going to pass this year as well.

I talked with my friend at Redding, and they are not attending this year.

The annual meetings are a huge cash cow for them and I think if attendance is dismal, this might just be the thing that finally does them in. I don't think they'll go away completely, but they will (hopefully) revamp as a more vigorous and streamlined advocacy group rather than a membership sustained non-profit media company.

    Who is "they"?

The NRA is made up of over 5 million (mostly US) citizens. Active pro-gun activists. Do you really think we are going anywhere?

Sure, the top of the organization became corrupt over the years, and has to go. Hopefully, they will be gone before all the money is spent. A new managerial team will be put in place, and things will continue.

As for the annoying fundraising letters, historically, for every dollar spent in advertising, they raked in about $10. Very lucrative.

If you've never been to one of the annual Meetings and Exhibits, you are really missing something. The past several years have seen 80,000 people over the weekend. The exhibit hall is fantastic - all the newest, latest and greatest guns and gun stuff. The hall is filled with pro-gun people.

I have made many friends there over the past quarter century - sucks that I'm probably not going this year.

I don't think anyone is saying gun owners or gun rights activists are toast; I'm pretty sure everyone here agreed and spoke about the corrupt organization. That is who 'they' are. With the history of grifting and nonsense they've put out over the years, it makes more sense to support an organization like SAF or similar, who also fights for your rights but without the fear-mongering. I don't know how a new managerial team is supposed to do anything when the board has approved and continued to support the actions of LaPierre and his ilk for quite some time. That's beyond 'new managerial team' and well into dissolution of the organization.

My issue isn't with the annoying advertising, I understand advertising. Advertising is how they generate money, and I'm all for advertising campaigns. What I can't abide is the fearmongering, the disinformation, and the scare tactics. Asking people to donate is fine. Sending people mail with garbage like "NOTICE OF GUN FORFEITURE" and hyperbolic 'predictions' of what's to come that they church up as news. This garbage gets seen and interpreted as news and fact by a lot of people who can't imagine why a non-profit organization that seeks to train people and protect the second amendment would EVER get in the business of misleading statements and scare tactics in order to buy LaPierre a second mansion.

I haven't been to any of these events, but I don't really have the time to travel across the country to them. Things like this, AUSA, SHOT Show, they tend to happen in central or western US, and I'm not paying hindreds of dollars to fly out to look at guns and rub elbows with dealers. I would much rather take that money and go out into the mountains, go to the beach for a weekend or, better yet, use it to buy a new gun!

Hah, and this is the first NRAAM I'll be going to. Been a life member since 2013 and yearly before that. I'm bringing rotten produce to throw at WLP though.
