That’s not an improvement they’re both terrible in automotive wiring. Now if you were replacing a fluorescent ballast, those orange wire nuts are sweet.

Yeah, somewhere on here there's a mod that allows locker in 4hi range and I think that would also disable the antilock brakes which my wife hates with a passion. I wish someone would come up with some part numbers and adapter to make this happen without butchering and wires. I looked a little but no luck.

Yeah, when my wife and I were discussing the 10 year terms both of our minds went to “Wow, our oldest son would be 17!:rofl:
That’s when we decided 5 years would be a good time to entertain something with more than 1,300 sq/ft!

Thanks! Just finished signing everything a little over an hour ago. Feels good to have it behind us. The interest savings is amazing with these terms. Saving like 45k in interest between the term and interest rate reduction.:amen:

If it were me, by the time he's 17, I'd be planning on staying put instead of upsizing. He'll be on the cusp of maybe going to college or getting a job somewhere and heading out on his own. Looking at a 12 year old, it might be difficult to see but having a 17 year old right now, things changed quick!

House history for me, we've been INCREDIBLY fortunate with our timing the market for buying and selling. Both houses that we sold were on the market for a whole 36 hours.

My first house was built in 1923 and was about 970sf plus an almost completely worthless basement.

We knew we were going to have kids so we had a house built that had 4 bedrooms and was 2400sf.

We sold that house and bought the one we're in now, 5 bedrooms and about 4200sf, which worked out well with having the niece stay with us. It'll be entirely too much house pretty soon.

The next move will be to a decidedly warmer climate and a hell of a lot smaller residence!

If it's much like our refinancing, the payment probably didn't change all that much, either.

I paid my house off in March of 2013, in April we bought 2 new Hondas:anonymous:.
We had been married 22 years at the time and that was the first time we ever had two car payments. Previously, one of us would get a new one, pay for it in about 4 years, then the other would get a new one.

That's more or less how we had been doing things, too, except I kept the Pilot for 15 years and she got 3 vehicles.

Now we're paying off the Tacoma and the Highlander, which I didn't really want to do but it was kind of a necessity. :notsure:

Holding out until 17 isn’t an option! Lol. There’s a lot to be desired with our current place, so that’s the reality check with a 5 year regroup/assessment. We could sell now and bank a lot, but with this market and our location, we’d never afford something with the huge yard we have grown to love.

I’ve always paid more towards the principal by $300, so the 15 year was still less than what I was currently paying with that extra, that’s what prompted me to go with a 10 year. It’s only a little more than what I was paying. :bananadance:

If I were smarter, I'd get rid of my Jeep toy, pay off the house and put every penny into a retirement account that you can draw early on. But you know something? Gotta live life today. Buried my cousin a couple of years ago at age 55, cancer. Forget that, going to have some toys now....eat cat food in retirement don't care! Not expecting that but just saying....

I think I misread your previous post - he'll be 17 in TEN years so you're looking to reassess in FIVE, correct?
Ours went up $400 but that's a small price to pay to save $70k!

Correct about that, I’m sure we would have kicked him out to live in the playhouse by then if we still had to all live in our tiny house by then!
Its hard to believe how much banks make on loans, but the truth is a mortgage is a necessary evil, and I refuse to throw money away renting.

Same we try to do. That got a little fuxxored in 2008 when her 96 was bought back..but an extra $170/36 months to drive almost new versus a new clutch if her 96 didn't rot out, and then who knows what else, it was easier to swallow.

Don't sell it short..cat food can be damn expensive, ask me
