So i take my truck to a dealer in utah months ago and had a nightmare of a time getting them to fix my timing cover, which was under warranty. The guy tried fixing my power steering pump and charged me for it, since its not under power train warranty. I told him a million times i was leaking engine oil and not power steering fluid. Eventually after coming back the dealership three times they “repaired” the timing cover and refunded the power steering pump. The timing cover is now leaking again, but now im on the east coast and want nothing to do with that dealership. Im gona see if i can force them to pay another dealer to fix it, but theyll probably force me to drive back. Oh and btw trucks no longer under warranty.

Whatever you do, don't go back to that dealership. The lack of quality on their work will not change.

    This.

And most people have better luck contacting Toyota corporate.
You don’t have much to loose by asking. And from what I hear, they are better than most at working with people.

Ive actually talked to corporate a couple times, so i know the master mechanic at my local dealer personally so hes helped me navigate a bit. The service manager from the bad dealer called me and told me that any toyota dealer can work on it under the warranty of the part. This is not exactly true. See you have a warranty on the part that was replaced, but there is no warranty for shitty work, so that dealership needs to pay out of pocket. My dealer wont work for free, understandably so. The bad dealer wants to say that the issue is from an over arching problem. The master mechanic checked everything out and said thats bullshit. That official report goes in, and then i will call back Toyota corporate and wage war. i noticed the problem a thousand miles before my warranty ended. Im about 7 k miles down the road now

    What is “over arching”?

And how far are the 2 dealerships?
I would think Toyota would find it understandable if they are on 2 different coast?

the dealers are on opposite coasts, when i say over arching im saying a bigger problem causing this problem, which would take blame away from that dealer.

Why does no one give the dealer name? How is anyone supposed to avoid a shitbag dealer if we have no idea who they are?

Problem is will toyota pay for shoddy warranty work that needs to done over. It usually comes down to the shop that originally did it thats responsible to do it over on their nickel.

Forgot to say toyota could back charge the original dealer while your new east coast dealer does the job over so they can get paid.

How many miles or length of time since repair ? The repairs are usually warranted for a length of time . Best of luck .

If I'm reading everything correctly, you are well out of warranty and many months and thousands of miles since the repair. There won't be any forcing the dealer to do anything, with the possible exception of fixing the leak should they agree and you return the truck to them for a second shot.

Let us know, but I can't imagine corporate having much interest in this one.
    Good luck with it. Seriously.

Sounds like Karl Malone Toyota to me. Their shop foreman was not willing to help me with anything and ended up telling me “to buy a new vehicle if I didn’t like the way mine behaved.” The issue? Crawl control wasn’t working right and since all that Toyota has issued a TSB. But the guy didn’t even want to try and help or troubleshoot. Went to Larry H Miller Toyota and they were super cool about everything and did literally everything they could without Toyota already having a TSB out. Now that Toyota has issued that TSB I have an appointment set up in a week to have it fixed with LHM.

Possible though, since the repair was done and not done correctly by Toyota under the warranty.

I'm sure there is some kind of warranty on parts and labour once a job is done, regardless of the vehicle itself being under warranty or not.

Yeah, i don't know what toyota gives for time or miles on their warranty work, but some independent shops your lucky to see 90 days to a year on parts. 30 days labor.
